BIG POP GIRLS 2022 - THE END

Crash would have been dragged for being basic or tired if literally any other pop girl released it. The sentiment that Charli can do no wrong because anything she touches is automatically hyperpop therefore superior to regular pop is more annoying than people putting Beyoncé on any sort of pedestal (which for the record isn’t unfounded, the proof is in the pudding).

lmao Crash really got some people worked up?

Used To Know Me walked so Break My Soul could run
Vroom Vroom bitches, you know you can't catch me xx

watch the next elimination being from no other album ddd.

Apart from Every Rule, Beg For You and like What You Think About Me... the rest is gold. Selfish Girl for top20!! Sorry If I Hurt You for top15!!!! Lightning top10!

I'm sorry, but I love "Carolina". One thing about me, I'm going to gobble up a soundtrack from Taylor. I think I've said it tons before, but one of my favourite Taylor songs is "Eyes Open", from The Hunger Games soundtrack. I love the way that she's capable of fitting into these soundscapes easily - no matter the film. I completely agree that Taylor - as an actress - is not a good idea; but Taylor behind the soundtrack for a film, is always a great shout.

"Carolina" is very much so a folklore / evermore reject, at least the instrumental is. However, the song was clearly written for the film. The song is inspired by the film Where The Crawdads Sings. I did watch the film but don't remember much... However, I do remember a lot of the atmosphere and tone of the film, which I do believe the film really nails. It's that feeling of being deep in a marsh on a humid summer. This mostly comes from the instrumental and the melody. This is all to say that I really love the vibe.

I mainly just find this to be a really great song, one that really floats around and suits Taylor's vocal range perfectly. It's got a catchy melody, despite not quiTe being in the pop realm (definitely not the one she currently is in). It was a solid song to keep us fed until the next album.

And if we're being honest, it's the best soundtrack song included in this rate, not that it's a high bar to clear when "Hold My Hand" and "Lift Me Up" are in the rate.

I'm surprised I was the only one who gave that a 10. Carolina is gorgeous and literally sounds like a folklore/evermore track, so it doing much worse than any of the songs from those albums did in the previous rates is a bit weird. I dunno, it kinda feels like people were extra harsh on it simply due to it being in the extras section. Actually, exactly the same thing happened with Safe & Sound (another 10) in the 2011 one.

I do think Carolina suffered a little bit due to people with Taylor fatigue who had to rate another Taylor song (at the end of a long list of bad extras). It’s certainly no 10 or 9 for me, but I do think it’s much better than a lot of Midnights.

Safe & Sound deserved top 10.
