Is this a safe space to say I love this song? Is it that much of a surprise a Swiftie would like a singer/songwriter with a limited vocal range?
I’ll preface this by saying I’ve had a love/hate relationship with Disgracie ever since I heard “For Real This Time” in 2021. I really enjoyed the track at the time, which led me to listen to the rest of her discography at the time, but nothing really grabbed me beyond that song and a couple others. Then, her debut album came out and I became hooked on “Difficult”, but again, not much grabbed me. Unsurprisingly, the same happened with her second album. I loved some tracks, but the rest seemed disposable. “That’s So True” is one of the songs that really got me.
I think this song is disgustingly catchy. It’s like a nasty, nasty rash that’s contagious and everyone needs to stay away before you catch it. The song was number one for eight. EIGHT. weeks in the Official Charts. EIGHT WEEKS. It’s STILL in the fucking charts behind “APT.” and that awful song currently at number one from the fellow nepo baby niece of the author of The Gruffalo.
She’s a sick woman for making this song be this addicting. She’s a sick, SICK, woman because this song is just chockfull of hooks. I simply do not understand what kind of cocaine she laced this track with. The amount of godawful TikToks I’ve seen of this song have given me brain rot. I will literally be sitting at work and suddenly start humming:
What'd she do to get you off? (Uh-huh)
Taking down her hair like, oh, my God
Taking off your shirt, I did that once
Or twice, uh
It’s such an obvious attempt at aping Taylor’s obsession with writing bridges and using that to essentially build a whole song around them. She wanted “Death By A Thousand Cuts”’ nachos so bad. She went all the way to Taylor’s Rhode Island home, stole homegrown tomatoes from her garden and handmade pico de gallo to go with the nachos. She then flew to Los Angeles (private jet, of course), planted organic avocado seeds from Erewhon in Taylor’s lawn, waited for them to be ready and made guacamole with them to complete the meal.
I can’t even be mad because it works! It fucking works! I wanted to hate her but I simply can’t! She stands for so many things I dislike in the current scene of music, where everyone wants to be a Taydaughter without the work ethic, personality, or talent, yet here I am! GRACIE ABRAMS YOU WILL PAY FOR YOUR CRIMES FOR MAKING ME LIKE YOU.
P.S. If anyone here is selling a ticket to any of her sold out shows at The O2, please sell it to me. Thanks x
