BIG POP GIRLS 2024

I agree but clearly this is not a safe space to call for any Beyoncé song. Like, some were even defending "OH LOUISIANA" ff
This mystical notion that Beyoncé has somehow been given preferential treatment, just because she’s Beyoncé, is nonsense. Of the 142 people who actually voted, only a fraction of them are actually contributing to the thread discourse, and looking at the score sheet, it’s pretty clear that if - if anything - people have been more critical of her, perhaps as a reaction to how she swept the 2022 rate.

The fact that Taylor is currently bombing (and people are focusing on placements) is obscuring the fact that we’re still in the early stages of the rate, with pretty low scores for the songs at hand. All in good time, everyone will be dealt their hand.

Not the narrative that all the middling material on Cowboy Carter is only doing... however well it is that it's doing... as a response to Renaissance dominating when it was rated popping up already

These narratives coming out of thin air are happening way too often on the forum. Literally who said Bey is having a special treatment here? I called for some of the most boring songs on the album which I know aren't fan faves of any sort and already had multiple responses dragging it as it was some wildly unpopular opinion while we also have people calling for almost the entirety of Dua and Ariana albums multiple times. At the very least it is coming off as an overreaction to my post, so my comment should be perfectly reasonable in such case.

I would accept:
Brat losing a few tracks but I doubt it given this forums overwhelming homosexuality.
Offering “just for fun” as the sacrificial lamb
Ariana can lose “True Story,” a fine song squished between two behemoths on the tracklist.
The incredibly forgettable “French Exit” slipping away
“The Diner” packing up its circus tent
We could leave Taylor alone but we won’t.
And let’s make @soratami day and kick out “guilty pleasure” before the top 100.

The only extras that feel worthy of BPG status from my American point of view are “Good Luck Babe” and “Hiss”

But if you’ve already recognised that multiple people have been dragging a selection of Cowboy Carter tracks, and that they’re evidently not fan faves, what would make you believe that this - in your own words - is clearly not a safe space to call for any Beyoncé song? That initial comment made it seem like you believe people deem her to be beyond reproach, when that evidently isn’t the case.

And the narrative isn’t coming from thin air - a case in point example of the implication of preferential treatment happened just a mere few days ago when *checks notes* it was posited that Levi’s Jeans would’ve been in the bottom five of the entire rate had Post Malone been the primary singer on the track, and not Beyoncé.

You kinda answered that question here - being dragged no matter which Beyoncé song is called, even if it's among the least popular ones.

I don't follow this thread too closely so likely have missed posts of that sort however, I'm not sure if anyone explicitly said an artist is being treated that way, you're just assuming they do. It may not be out of thin air but it is forming a conclusion too quickly.

I'll be honest, I actually think (the actual results of the rate aside) the discourse about most of the albums and artists have been pretty even. Even some of the songs I thought would (and should dd) be universally dragged have gotten their flowers!

If anything this rate is a nicer atmosphere than most album threads. Probably because we all have had distance from the material and we don't have to deal with members who exclusively contribute to one or two threads.

No wonder @RJF told us to fight.

I'm going to assume that people asking for the end of "Guilty Pleasure" have never felt the RUSH when the track explodes into yodeling with that bright glittering arpeggiated bass that makes you run 20 more minutes on the treadmill; the grutal sounds that mix moans and screams as if you were being impaled alive; the same feel as a rollercoaster speeding up before throwing you in the air. Go live! Get some Catholic Guilt!
