But seriously, obviously everyone can like or dislike whatever they want to like or dislike, it's the acting like something is 100% Objectively Very Good and like everyone who disagrees is just a Hater that's annoying, and this is especially true when a lot of the material is (subjectivity alert) what it is. It's like... I think everyone came into this rate expecting plenty of people wouldn't be too hot on TTPD, Radical Optimism, Short n Sweet, hell even Cowboy Carter to some extent, and you just have to accept that, but when it's Chappell's album being criticised the reaction is basically always

Obviously, but that comes with the territory. People are going to defend what they defend, and standing up for your (wrong <3 etc.) opinion is one thing, but acting like your opinion is the objective truth by which you can apparently assess the material better than everyone else who are merely blind stans is just silly. I don't appreciate Taylor's output the way her stans do, but I never double down on my lukewarm reaction to her material because I know it's ultimately just a matter of subjective taste and saying Swifties only defend it because they are invested leads nowhere. Wear your ducks with poise.

I just think it's important to remember that The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is the only debut in the lineup and it's objectively impressive that it isn't completely out of place like Short n Sweet among projects from literally some of the biggest names in pop music.

That doesn't make it beyond critique, but it's a caveat that will naturally provoke defensiveness.
