I want to lament only being allowed one 0 for no other reason than for the permission to include more scathing commentary. But then I stopped to consider what to possibly say about Tate McRae and it's extremely difficult to muster up even a singular fuck to give. She's not even fun to hate! You're telling me I'd have to listen to at least one of her songs in full? Check a Wikipedia page? No, that's too big of an ask for what's on offer. Who is she? What did she come from? Does she even have an album? I do not know and I can't imagine a world wherein I would ever care. It's all just so... there.

How did this even start as a solo project? The whole thing is giving "girl group with more than zero but less than three 'hit' singles has non-charismatic member with grating voice otherwise only there to dance jump ship for solo career with floundering array of mediocre singles," but we've skipped the part with the 'successful' girl group bop and jumped straight into forgettability.

EDIT: You're telling me she has albums (plural)???? Who is insisting on allowing this to continue?

Because she's not aping a sound Taylor spent her career perfecting dddd. And her music is full of personality and charm whereas Gracie's songs here, as much as I like them, aren't.
This 100%. I don't think it's about Gracie's relationship nor closeness to Taylor (which helps, that's factual) but the fact that her music is... a Pinterest board. A screenshot of a Pinterest board even.

Sabrina has carved herself a lane sonically and creatively - of course all artists have their references, I would say that Sabrina has a lot of Dolly in her, but she's done what I... expect from an artist, to take all of those reference points and carve something for themselves with an intentionality and their unique point of view.

Life events prevented me from taking part, but hoping for a top 10 consisting of:

360
Sympathy Is A Knife
Girl, So Confusing
B2b
Espresso
Houdini
Red Wine Supernova
Pink Pony Club
Diet Pepsi
Greedy
Angel Of My Dreams

I realise this is 11 songs but I couldn’t decide which one to cut.

A cute Top 20? (not necessarily all 10s from me, but mostly)

360
Sympathy is a knife
Von dutch
BODYGUARD
II HANDS II HEAVEN
SWEET ★ HONEY ★ BUCKIIN’
Bed Chem
Espresso
the boy is mine
yes, and?
we can't be friends (wait for your love)
Houdini
Training Season
Illusion
LUNCH
BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Red Wine Supernova
Naked In Manhattan
Good Luck, Babe!
HISS

Taylor? Not sure what to pick, the favorite of her songs are probably all over the place and her album is too divisive from voters in general. Not sure what will rise above the carnage, maybe something like So High School which I haven't seen many scathing remarks about.

There's something about the mixing/production of "I'M HIS, HE'S MINE" that makes the sample feel so grating. It just stomps over the entire mix. "LIFETIMES" had potential in a feat. Kygo way, but it's so under written it sounds like filler music from Selling Sunset on loop. Katy is better than that.

"OH LOUISIANA" and "DESERT EAGLE" were for the When I Get Home girlies. I saw things I imagined, I did. I hope the latter sticks around longer.

I still think Lifetimes had the ingredients to be great if anyone involved actually cared enough to make it great. The lack of a second verse is unforgivable and that basic-ass Love Island production is maddening, because there is so much unrealized potential. The concept is perfect for a pop song, and I think the feeling is there, but it could've been a really fun, uplifting anthem in the hands of anyone more capable.
