I'm glad my two least favorite Sabrina tracks are gone, there's just a couple more I don't have much passion for that could go too. It's not an amazing album front-to-back, but has some really strong highs beyond just Espresso.

I wanted 12 Espressos.

No I think it's a fine album, I do actually love 2/3rds of it. But "a great album front to back" feels like a reach when it's just 12 songs she liked that all vary in terms of style and quality, there's no throughline that holds everything together. It really can't be that much of a shock that Slim Pickins and Dumb & Poetic are out already?

Also they both have almost 5.9 averages! There was a whole point jump from Oh Louisiana! I don't actually think that's a bad result for them. I'll admit I'm shocked that Lie to Girls outlasted both but I imagine it's on the chopping block next.

I mean, honestly 12 Expressos was exactly what I originally wanted too dd, but I was happy with what we ended up getting even if it wasn't that. The album might not be super cohesive in terms of sound, but I do think it just feels like a classic pop girl project that dabbles in a bit of this and a bit of that, like many of the girls have done in the past. Not every album has to have a super defined vision and sound executed from start to finish. Sabrina does have a very distinctive writing style, and that's exactly what ties the album together, so I don't think it feels like just a dozen random songs at all, in fact in terms of songwriting it's easily one of the most cohesive here.

After literal years of watching girls both big and small squander momentum by taking 18 months - or more! - to get a fucking album out, I say good for Sabrina and her team. Espresso hit like an asteroid so they came up with sumthin’ real quick. None of this “my fans know I’m a perfectionist!” bullshit. Put your A&R to work, lay down some vocals, and get out on the road. You might get an album with a couple duds but you also get a smash arena tour and Grammys so I think it’s a fair trade.

I mean, I don't doubt Espresso smashing sped things along, but there was literally a two year gap between emails i can't send and Short n Sweet, and I'm sure at least a good chunk of the songs were done before Espresso was even released, so it's not like they actually cooked up a whole album in a month or two nn

So you agree, the album is a mixed bag?

No I hear what you're saying, and like I said before, I actually do like a large chunk of the album! But I also don't think it should be a surprise that people don't hold it in the same regard to some of the other albums in this rate because of, to your point, it dabbling in a bit of everything and not having a defined sound. And again, that's fine! She did what she needed to do to @Laura Vanderbooben's point, and it was absolutely the right move. But as a result, because of it trying on a few different hats, it has a few songs that were just never going to make it far in this rate and that's what I was getting at.

Oh no definitely not the whole album. But in terms of, like, a cohesive body of work etc. Just get the damn thing out there!

Me dishing out The Anthology scores based on posts I’ve read on here and pure vibes, having never even listened to it

Joking

But it doesn't really matter if you listen to Cassandra and decide it's a 4 or wing it and decide it's a 4. What matters is that, regardless of the path that takes us there, deep in our hearts, we all somehow know that Cassandra is a 4.

Or in my case, it's a 5 until you look back on your scores and see that [REDACTED], [REDACTED], and [REDACTED] all got 5's and Cassandra is definitely not as good as any of those so, in a rare instance wherein you realize that you've erred, must politely ask to deduct a point from her (and others mononymous dirges) despite fears that Swifties may accuse you of deliberately trying to tank her (and you know what? Maybe. I. Am.) (I'm not) because, at the end of the day, we must all eventually accept that she is a 4.

I gave Cassandra a 6. Who knew!

Where are the phantom Swifties on this forum that everyone always complains about? They certainly aren’t helping her win any of these things. The most populous and annoying fanbase on this forum is easily Lady Gaga’s thanks to the forum’s drawbridge going up when it did and as a group, them reaching the collective soft-brained dotage that takes all the fanbases of the girls who go for fifteen plus years.

I feel like we all glossed over my mention of Ur So Gay being old enough to buy cigarettes. 2007 was eighteen years ago!! We're all DYING!!!!!!
