Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT

Haven't finished my first full play yet, but I love how she and Finneas always deliver on the production. She's always bringing something fresh, which is impressive for someone that works exclusively with her brother. They don't even let you suggest she should work with someone else.

Also L'Amour De Ma Vie is fantastic, oh my God.

The Diner is one for the Overheated/Oxytocin/Didn't Change My Number girlies. Creepy sexy bop.

L'amour de ma Vie and Birds of a Feather are immediate standouts. The former is a ride and the latter is so warm, soft and melodic. It's gorgeous.

I think the album starts well and becomes quite a lot more interesting as it goes on. Loving the chunkier productions toward the end. Bittersuite is a darker, crunchier Billie Bossa Nova.

Blue is like a victory lap - all of the best parts of the previous nine songs, the delicacy, the creepiness, the casual switch-ups in sound... maybe the best song here. Highly cinematic.

Can't wait to spend more time with this. She's everything.

he/they
I didn't even finish the entire album yet but still, this album contains some elements that I've been yearning for, for years. Definitely her best body of work.

This morning listening getting ready on my Alexa: "More of the same Billie mumbling"

Listening now with earphones at work: "Oh there's crack in this"

I've only listened once, however..
I read a review where it was described as a track designed to be a production flex/showcase for Finneas and I'm inclined to agree.
I feel this applies to the majority of the album. I don't remember who it was earlier in the thread that described some of the songs as meandering (in a good way) but I'd say they're more so amorphous and continuously evolving. In today's landscape of 2 minute singles, there were points where I felt Billie & Finneas were acutely aware of people's limited attention span, so they made sure to keep listeners engaged by changing things up as efficiently as possible, and it works.

CHIHIRO and Birds were the main standouts on first listen but I will no doubt get into many others. Once Shaznay lets go of my soul.

I'm not trying to come for anybody's experience, but the takes that criticize her vocals for being too breathy or mumbling are genuinely baffling to me. I think she's been unfairly lumped with the cursive singers for years, but the first thing that jumped out to me about this record is how diversified and ample and colorful her vocal performance has become. She's belting and running for her life all over this album!
