Its giving shades of lana del rey, a big blockbuster “sad song”. Just dripping in drama, with production that takes you on a ride. Her voice has so much warmth and texture all over this.

Lana’s DNA is all over the song, which I guess shouldn’t be surprising. The original “True Blue” from 2016 is very Born to Die era.

The massive display for this album at all the Target stores around me (more than a dozen) is empty, like every copy CD and vinyl, is sold out. Insane.

Yep same at mine, I wanted a seedee copy while I ran in for some things last night but had to order it online. My record shop let me go ahead and pay for one of the indie exclusive vinyls (they didn’t get their shipment). She’s got my ass with this album, I’m obsessed.

The orchestra on this album is the first time they allowed someone else on their record.

The best track is L'Amour De Ma Vie for me. It's like this album's Happier Than Ever with the slow beginning and then masterfully building up until it explodes in the end. Gorgeous track.

Birds of a Feather has been on repeat for me. I could almost hear Maggie Rogers singing it.

I'm early in the album, but I don't see how anybody can hear the vocals on even the first three tracks and think it's just mumbling.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. She should make it a trademark from now on: one cheeky send-off song per album.

The production on The Diner is just... ugh, chefs kiss.

This doesn’t quite beat Cowboy Carter for my AOTY but it comes close. The production is brilliantly fluid (which also mirrors the water theme) and the vocals and songs on top are top notch. This is why it’s sometimes a good idea to make a tight album without a gazillion songs. Each song has its value and is distinct. My favorite is Birds of a Feather but Skinny, Blue, The Diner, and La’Amour are also up there. Lunch is my least favorite but it still slaps. The synth shower at the end of La’Amour is one of the best musical moments on a pop album in a long time. It’s so good.

And while this may seem like yet more promo for my music before it drops soon, Finneas’s production makes me want to sit down and
make tons of new tracks. So inspiring.
