Björk - Fossora

We must have different ideas about what summer is.

Despite the icy cover, I recall that Bj herself thinks of Homogenic as a summer album because she recorded it in the Spanish heat.
I was about to say... not only did she record it in the Spanish heat, she recorded it in the Andalusian heat, which is a completely different beast. And it somehow comes through for me as a local. There's this stifling energy to it.
I always forget about this, Homogenic is easily one of the most "winter" albums I've ever heard, in terms of sound!

I agree that her closest thing to a "summery" album might be Post. It just kind of makes sense?

I think for me, it's a combination of always having listened to the album knowing where she recorded it, me being from the same place, and those fat beats and synths doing the rest of the synaesthetic work. Vespertine feels wintery for sure though, but Homogenic has this... oppressive, kind of nagging quality to it for me, and that's exactly what an Andalusian summer feels like. We are literally going through a scorching heat wave as we speak (half-past midnight and it's 30 degrees Celsius ddd), which is making me want to play it.

I've still not listened to Vulnicura. Told myself I'd do it when I didn't feel so emotionally fragile. It's officially in a mental list of mine which also features A Little Life, trying shrooms, and several big name gay movies from the past few years.

But Utopia, now that's a great album for getting drunk in your childhood home's bathroom. "I caaaare for you, caaaare for you. *vaguely floral sounds*" BOP!

'Fossora' is one of her better albums of recent years. Also, 'Utopia' has grown on me a lot. I enjoy those two much more than Vulnicura (often too depressing and drawn out) or Biophilia (too sporadic in it's ideas and lacking melody in places).

Vulnicura was so emotionally draining in 2015 and I listened to it a lot, from 2001 Hidden Place release until then I was non stop fan but had to take a break because it was a lot during hard times that album. I will explore them now that I am out of these times I am afraid and bored of Biophilia before I press play but excite for the other two

I very much sympathize with the very human joy, pain and various feelings that are slipping through the cracks of your post.

Her Mother's House still disarms me every listen; I really wish there was a version with both Doa's verse and the "Her most loved ones / Already live in the chambers of her heart / The four chambers of her heart / Matriarch architecture / They are curved buildings" lyrics with the updated album production.

This was so brat-coded NN

We want an anniversary Rock verison remix Mom, this song is begging for it!

Knowing her, she'll sooner release a strings/blip bop version than what I asked for.
