Any cut that isnot Dawn is a victory with all those apparent haters. And saying this now we all know which will be losing a song next.

Thug Cry - 6.744

10 x 1 (@soratami)
3 x 1 (@Trouble in Paradise)
My score - 7.5

Track background: Track 14 on Tinashe's album released in October 7th, 2014, "Thug Cry" was produced by Mike WiLL Made-It, and probably features his tag, but I don't care to double-check and see.

BUT ANYWAY. A fucking kii. To be honest, this song is probably the most mundane and straightforward on Tinashe's LP, which when you compare to her other offerings across Aquarius, makes sense. Tinashe has a specific talent for taking traditional R&B and flipping it in that oft-mentioned “alt-“ direction, so to see her place something so ordinary, so plain, and completely basic on the tracklist was a disappointing. And luckily, many of you graciously agreed. This song was frequently fighting for last place, but fortunately (or nah?) another Tinashe song just wouldn't let up. Here are some of your comments:

@paperboyfriendd - The worst! @happiestgirl - I wish this song had a more appealing title, I always used to skip over it because I thought it would be cheesy. But it’s beautiful.
@TRAVVV: If this album has a dud, this is it. @digitalkaiser - Mike Will’s production in this is so fire. For some reason this song really evokes the feeling I had growing up with my mom’s side of the family. R&B music has really just been such a huge part of my upbringing and this song really just brings me back, it’s got all the posturing and production that i love the most about R&B.

@Bangers&Bops: Tinashe channeling Ashanti a decade ago, sporting her sweetest falsetto to inform you that her loving is so good it brings tough guys to tears is what I’m here for.

@Mr.Arroz sidebar: Ashanti is a fair comparison here, yes...

@ohnostalgia - Tinashe: masc whisperer.

@constantino - Grr I HATE the Mike Will Made It watermark/rip/whatever SO FUCKING MUCH, it reminds me of Bangerz-era Miley and that is NOT something I like to remember. So fuck this. The song is kinda meh and basic compared to what surrounds it so eh.

@Solenciennes - I don’t really like this all that much but enjoy the production, I wouldn’t go as far as calling it a dud but it suffers from being sandwiched between two of the album highlights.

Looks like Tinashe hasn't performed this live... so here's a tragic pole dance competition video

Another fine choice, as we stay chugging ahead. Got another for y'all a lil' later... keep your eyes peeled.
