Blake Lewis- Audio Day Dream

On second listen, this is a gorgeous pop album that JC should've made with Kate. Thank heavens a good pop male artist is here - we know we can't rely on the Ward.

Bit hard to compare "ADD" with an album that wasn't even released (or hasn't been released YET! *fingers crossed*). JC tried the experimental route with the brilliant "Schizophrenic" and it bombed, so its understandable that he went for something a lil more mainstream with his latest singles (but hell, JC could sing the menu to a Chinese take-away and it'd still be fcuking class :P)

But getting back to Blake. He wasn't my fav on AI last year, mainly cause the judges went spastic each time he sang, over hyping him as "cool" and "revolutionary". I did have to give him kudos for being practically the only person to come out on the stage from day one and act like he owned it. He always performed like he'd been doing it for years (and quite possible had been), and you'd always wonder what he'd do that week to make the song interesting.

I'm kinda surprised at how much I'm liking the songs from ADD I've heard so far, so I think I'll trot on over to Amazon right now and see will it get here before xmas (not ruddy likely! :P )
Oh and the video to Break Anotha is indeed horrendous. Its not even bad in a funny way!!

I got this today and I really like it. I don't like many male pop vocalists but this is probably my fave album of this type since JC Chasez's Schizophrenic. Even the slower stuff is good. A real surprise in my opinion.

The album is horrible. Horrible. He's trying to hard.

On a happy note, he got protested when he performed in seattle this past weekend. Because he gives Seattle a crap pop name

May I just say that I finally gave "Break Anotha" a listen and realised that "anotha" is actually "another". I just assumed "Anotha" was some small village and it represented Blake Lewis finally breaking free from being, erm, the only singer in the village.

The disc FINALLY arrived in the post (huge delays over christmas!) and now that I've listened to it a good few times, I must say, I'm really feeling it!!

The upbeat songs are VERY catchy and there are even a couple of standout slow numbers too. Its one of those rare albums that I think gets better as it goes on (rather than having all the stronger material upfront at the start of the disc). Hes a little flat on a few songs, but the massive production goes some way to making up for it and thankfully he doesnt go overboard on the beatboxing :P

The JC comparisons still irk me though! How in the hell are they anything alike?!?!
