The first single to go Top 40 for the band. It's eastern influences to the fore a superb piece of Pop is the only way to describe this.

I must admit at the time this single passed me by. Don't know why as recently I have been listening to this single more than the others. It has something which I can't put my finger on. Great track.

Don't Tell Me Entered Chart 14/04/84 32-15-11-8-8-9-15-26-40-65 Peak 8 Weeks On Chart 10
Here is the track that seems to turn up most on TV/Radio possibly their most accessible track to date Don't Tell Me is a piece of undeniable catchy pop.

Day Before You Came Entered Chart 21/07/84 39-22-22-22-26-33-55-74 Peak 22 Weeks On Chart 8
Cover time for the band and a rather good one at that. One of ABBA's final singles which itself peaked 10 places lower at 32. Superb piece of pop.

What's Your Problem Entered Chart 07-09-85 51-40-40-44-73 Peak 40 Weeks On Chart 5
The bands last Top 40 just sneaking into that position. A very strong track that deserved a much higher chart placing. Strong synth track .

Lose Your Love Entered Chart 09/11/85 77-93 Peak 77 Weeks On Chart 2
This for me isn't single material. It's a bit of a nothing track goes nowhere. Possibly their worst major label single release.

I Can See It Entered Chart 03/05/86 76-71-71 Peak 71 Weeks On Chart 3
The final charting single from the band, this is one occasion where I feel they would have been better served by using the LP version as a single release. Once again it really is a great track.

There we have it, all the chart eligible tracks for the band. It's now over to you. But I do need to find out how many voters there are for this vote.

Hastily written to try and get that hit single the record label wanted. Fortunately, inspiration struck big-time. Pure pop gold.

I don't think I'd even heard the ABBA version (and wouldn't until 1993's More Gold). Because they'd been written out of pop culture by 1984, there wasn't as much made of it as there would be nowadays, and it sounds like classic Blancmange (and the single mix is miles better than the LP version.

I loved this straight away, and got the 12" as soon as I could, being a Mange stan by this stage. Shocked when it failed to climb higher than #40, but on reflection it was a bit too similar to Don't Tell Me and the public maybe (wrongly) felt they were getting too formulaic.

Their A&R team reckoned this was going to be a #1. I love Neil's sleevenotes about this track in the Believe You Me SDE. Apparently, the video was banned and derailed the entire campaign, so it flopped at #77. It's a strange one, on the surface it seems a very slight song and nothing very quirky or typically Blancmange-esque about it, but over time this really gets under your skin. There are a couple of different mixes, and it packs a surprising punch. Possibly their most underrated single.

Well this completely flummoxed me in 1986. I was in Woolies and saw the single in the racks, and thought "woah, another new single so soon after the Believe You Me era?". Was keen to hear it, then the C4 Chart Show played a clip at the end of that week...."hang on, this is "Why Don't They Leave Things Alone!!!??"....what's with the title change. Anyway, I didn't get this single mix for years (about 20 years before I got a 7" copy, another few years again until it appeared on CD). It's good, but all a bit strange with the changed titles and no promo.
