    "이브의 경고 (feat. Shindong)" is the 4th track from 2007 SUMMER SMTOWN, released on July 5, 2007. The song, which translates to "Message of Eve", "Warning of the eve", or "Eve's Warning" depending on the source, was originally released by Park Mi Kyung in 1995, featuring Kang Won Rae from Clon. This cover features Shindong from K-Pop boygroup Super Junior.

    What in the Super Mario Sunshine OST hell? You know what, I'm going to go against the grain a little bit, but I was expecting way worse. If it wasn't for you-know-who's inclusion, I would even add it to my rate discoveries list. It's giving beach party and I love that so much! As someone who hasn't been to one but would love to, let me bask in the escapism in peace fff. But yeah, Shindong does have an annoying presence on here so for many of you, it's been rated... accordingly.

    Let's start with some good old slander, first from @nanapop99 (1) — "Any songs with Shindong from Super Junior deserve nothing but hate and slander. Delete."

    @clowezra
    (2) — "BoA just about makes this tolerable, otherwise…yikes."

    @RUNAWAY (5) — "jesus we’re off to a good start with BoA’s verse and chorus and then…..it’s just totally ruined by Shindong’s….whatever he was doing. He literally has one of the worst, most unlistenable voices. What the fuck."

    A couple people were able to bop nevertheless, with @M24 (7) wondering "Why is this melody so familiar?? I'm bopping for some reason!"

    @evilsin (7) — "Shindong is a garbage person, but this is kinda delightful. Very strong chorus melody."

    I wasn't the only one being reminded of videogames, as @Kaz D'Oerba (7) asked "It’s cute but WHY is it composed with the Kirby 64 sound font???"

    And @Attis (9) — "Noooo I hate that Shindong is in here, because the whole song is giving me Mario Kart vibes especially that synthline hook."

    I have to end with the most cursed comment here, from @Slice of Life (3) — "its a miracle that boa didnt retire after releasing this song. i know i would have"

    We're staying in the Extras next...

  5. Wait, "precious" was composed by Hara Kazuhiro? It's such a subpar song that I would've never guessed, since usually he brings out the bops.

    Exclude Shindong from Eve's Warning and we get a pretty cute little ditty with a very strong chorus melody.

    "TRF meets BoA - survival dAnce ~no no cry more~" is the 3rd track from the second disc of TRF's ninth album "Life-e-Motions", released on February 16, 2006. The second disc contains covers of TRF's songs featuring other artists, with BoA taking part in this one. It was used as the ending theme for the Fuji TV variety show "Gravure Talk Audition". The original solo version was released in 1994. It was written, composed and arranged by Tetsuya Komuro.

    I hadn't heard this before the rate and this caught me off guard, to say the least. It's a cover of a successful 90s dance song that, with its festive and anthemic feel, already had quite a lot going on for it. However, this remix / cover gets wilder. It's reinvented as a R&B / UK Garage hybrid in which everything has been thrown at it: bass slapping, DJ scratches, strings, loud adlibs, and everything at once during the chorus! It's all over the place stylistically, structurally, and even vocally, and it's no surprise it threw most of you off.

    My feelings towards it evolved over the course of the rate. I initially liked everything but the chorus at first, but the latter has grown on me, and I think I would bump the score a little bit if I were to rate the song right now. All in all, I like the idea of this remix, but the execution is a bit lacking.

    @M24 (0) — "I hate this, I'm sorry. That "chorus" is horrible and ruins my enjoyment of the song." I had the same strong reaction to the chorus so I totally get it.

    @nanapop99 (5) — "How come I did not know this song existed before the rate? I like the verses and the production is great but the chorus is way too chaotic for me. It sounds out of place." It's one of the obscure Extras so I don't blame you for missing it... talking about missing, I just remembered about the AnyBand song I could've included in the rate, I'm sorry unnies fff.

    @evilsin (7) — "Why is this so chaotic, dddd? Kinda in a good way though." Seriously, this is one of those times I wish I would've been a fly on the wall in the studio. I really want to know in which state they were during the making of this.

    A new album gets its first cut, but which one?

  7. The way I was expecting a nice Christmas/ballad cull in the bottom 5 and you've decided to start targeting the messy bops instead and I've somehow already been in the high scorer section twice...

  8. Oh yeah, now I realize that we didn't get to rate all of the Anyband songs, huh?

    "survival dAnce" is a classic, but this version is a bit too much.

  10. The thing is I went back in my stuff and found a couple stills from the AnyBand MV ready for graphic making purpose... in my Part 3 folder fff. Somehow I must have misremembered this project happening in the early 10s. To make up for it, I'm going to dedicate a post about that collab on a slow elimination day.

    Speaking of, I had a busier day than expected so I wasn't able to drop an elimination but I'll get back to business in the morning.

    I have literally never heard of this until today....you didn’t wanna bring this up like 2 months ago when voting opened ddddd?

    There's also literally no mention of the project anywhere on her Wikipedia or Generasia pages so wtf is up with that?

  12. I mean... my memory is very superficial as is, how could I have known that you being such a big BoA fan don't know about Anyband?

    Funnily enough, they even did their version of "Scream" and I mentioned that in my commentary, dddd. We are a mess.

    "OUR LOVE ~to my parents~" is the 7th track from MADE IN TWENTY (20), BoA's fifth Japanese album, released on January 17, 2007. It was written by BoA, composed and arranged by Fukuyama Taishi.

    The balladphobia continues! It's not difficult to understand what may have led her to craft such a song. At this point in her career, she had been going on full blast for close to a decade, despite just entering her twenties. Recording this album track must have been the opportunity for her to step back and express gratitude towards her folks, who helped her get to that place, and whom she was surely missing while on the road. My gripe with this is... well... I appreciate the subject matter but I wish the song wasn't this dull nn.

    @nanapop99
    (2) called this "A snoozefest. A struggle to get through. A skip." Stealing this for my dating apps bio, if you don't mind!

    I think some of you will cheer at the next elimination...

  17. I sound like such a hater with my commentaries so far but I promise that it will get better... And by the way, this song was actually written by BoA herself! I'm pretty sure the recording process was even showed in a Mnet(?) documentary back in the days.

  18. I’m so sad I missed this but screaming @ the fact I would have give White Christmas a 9 at least

    EDIT I just saw the Anyband mention….and TPL would have been an easy 10 fff

    "赤鼻のトナカイ (Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer)" is the 3rd track from Merry Christmas from BoA, BoA's first special Japanese album, released on December 25, 2005. It was originally written and released by songwriter Johnny Marks in 1949, and many artists have put their spin on it since.

    My first thought upon hearing this was "it's getting quite festive in here!"... without realizing it was a Christmas song until halfway. They got me good! I'm not familiar with the original, or least no other version comes to mind. That means I went into this with zero preconception and I'm sorry but I'm kinda living for this cover. That time capsule of a 00s R&B sounding beat, the random tempo changes, the Xmassy instruments popping in and out, the chant towards the end... I'll pretend this isn't meant to be taken that seriously and that it's something fun, something for the wintertime, something for the girls to get ready and party to. She has performed it during a Christmas themed concert, and I have to admit it pops off quite a bit here!

    You had a lot to say about this one, and we start with a full 0 from
    @clowezra (0), who felt hatecrimed "
    This is actively homophobic, sorry gals."

    @Kaz D'Oerba (1) — "
    What the hell BoA"

    @M24 (4) — "This is how you do xmas music! I don't give it too much of a high score because it's nothing other-worldly, but it lowkey bops so I'm satisfied!"

    @nanapop99 (4) — "Trilingual queen! The intro is so misleading though. You're expecting a banger but then you end up with a cheesy christmas song." Yeah it's like it isn't sure what it wants to be.

    @evilsin (4) — "
    That rap part almost keeled me over."

    @RUNAWAY (8.5) — "never did I ever think I would be bopping to a JAPANESE ROCK COVER of Rudolph but here we are. She ATE!"

    @Attis (7) — "Fff okay I will give additional point for its daring retelling"

    @Slice of Life (8) — "come on rudolph, shake that ass!!!!" Hell yeah!
