Bond, James Bond

  1. Quite excited about this although it's almost a year off release. Daniel Craig is great as Bond but I hope this is more Skyfall/Casino Royale than Quantum of Snorefest. Sam Smith is rumoured to be in the running to do the theme song.
  2. Of course it's gonna be bloody Sam Smith to do the theme song. I'd much prefer Lana or Lorde please.
  3. I miss when there was a guaranteed Bond film every 2nd year... Wasn't a fan of Skyfall, but the prospect of Daniel Craig shirtless will always get me in a seat.
  4. Skyfall was good but kind of became Home Alone towards the end.
  5. I loved Skyfall, hopefully they keep that kind of quality up after the awfulness of Quantum of Solace.

And Sam Smith... Hopefully they'll be less obvious and mainstream hit chasing.
  6. Blofeld is back. He HAS to be back.
  7. I've loved every Craig film so far, even Quantum, which although the weakest, is certainly not as bad as its made out to be.
  8. I enjoyed QoS in the cinema, but it doesn't really do anything for me when I watch it now. It's a bit nothingy whereas the other Craig films have amazing edge of seat sequences and great stories, QoS only seemed to have some good sequences. The story wasn't much cop.
  9. Yeah, I'll concede that. The story wasn't as gripping as the others, but it certainly provided on the action front.
  10. Skyfall is one of my favorite movies of all time.

Hope Ben Whishaw gets a chance to shine here.
  11. I'm out of my mind excited for Christoph Waltz as a Bond villain.

What I liked about Skyfall is that they took the subversion they established with Casino Royale and used it to make a subtly classic Bond film. The fact that they cast Christopher Waltz makes me believe they're going to delve either further in that direction, making classic films with a modern dynamic, which is exactly what you want from Bond.

    And Monica Belluci? Fuck yes.
  13. Skyfall was great, Bond films are very inconsistent though... this could be dull or amazing.
  14. Agree with everything! Belluci is inspired casting. They haven't cast an older lady in a long while. And Waltz was literally born to play a Bond villain.

And yeah they got the mix of new Bond and old Bond perfect with Skyfall. It was like the love child of Casino Royale and the old camp bonds. I hope they continue that with this one, I'm a little nervous about the henchman looking guy in the cast though. He looks like he could be a bit of shit ''''''funny''''' sidekick to the villain. I want Waltz to be extravagant but subtly creepy, and I fear they're gonna make him jokey.

    I don't like the title.
  16. I think after how Quantum of Solace was received, they invested a lot of time and money into the writing process to get the Daniel Craig era back on track. I reckon follow a similar formula having a more traditional villain (who wants to take over / destroy the world obviously) functioning in the modern world
  17. I've loved all Craig's Bonds, and think QoS still has a lot going for it, even if it's in third place. The opera scene was amazing. But they've acknowledged that the script wasn't complete when they started, so seem to have learnt their lesson with more attention paid on the writing.

Mendes being back was the best news, he really gave Skyfall gravitas when it could have easily slipped into parody. Such a shame he's cinematographer isn't here this time, it really was the most beautifully shot.

Biggest loss if no Dame Judy, she was fantastic as M, just perfect casting, and her last scenes were so so sad. That said the new M and Moneypenny reveal was brilliant in Skyfall.

..and theme tune, please, I hope no Sam Smith, but you know they're going to go there, they went obvious with Skyfall, and previous "experiments" didn't really work, so I can so see it. It'll be horrible. I'd obviously love Kylie, but it'll never happen, so I'd be happier with Coldplay, Ed Sherran (would be different for him) or Ellie Goulding if their going "obvious" current acts, Bastille could do something different too. Could live with Katy Perry or Taylor Swift, but how about Idina Menzel?

Anyway, totally excited for this, and the introduction of Spectre bodes well, although current reports imply they haven't forgotten about Quantum either, with Mr White making a reappearance. I do like a bit of continuity through my Bonds. Not sure about the one word title either, I'd prefer it to have been, "Spectre of something" but it's fine.
  18. Lana Del Rey for the theme tune please.
  19. I finally got around to watching Skyfall last night. It was certainly the best of the three Craig films, but it was majorly let down by over half the film being a strung-out cat-and-mouse chase.
  20. We all know Goldfrapp would do the best bond theme
