Britney Spears - Circus

"Toy Soldier" is great but a tad overrated on the internet. I don't think it would do all that well--it's a rare example of being too different.

While I do think she has made huge strides, and I've said from the start that work--being the only thing she's known since 11--would be tremendously therapeutic for her, I can't help but wonder why she's never shown going to a therapist during her still-constant pap coverage...

Anyway, I agree that if she thinks she's up for it, make a go of Blackout Mk II. Blackout is without doubt her best album, and it really has begun to define her...like some of the tracks on In The Zone, there's a certain dirty electro hip-hopness that only Britney can do ("Piece of Me," "Break The Ice," "Freakshow") along with more mainstream tracks ("Gimme More") that reflect the current market; I personally don't like the tracks that stray to far into traditional hip-hop/R&B (namely the last 2 tracks).

I agree wholeheartedly that making an album that has half of the weird gritty electro-hop ("Kiss U All Over") mixed with icy electro-dance ("State Of Grace" if re-twiddled, "Breathe On Me," "And Then We Kiss") would be MASSIVE.

And, for the love of God, MORE BT.

That is all.

I don't want a new album at Christmas. I want her to gain back at least 50% shared custody before she goes out and promotes a new album. I can wait.

I DO want a Blackout Deluxe Edition.

What makes them cite Whitney as her main rival apart from the fact they have rhyming names?

probably the fact they were both raving loonies at one point and are now fit and healthy and ready to make a big comeback!

QUESTION!

Are you a Britney fan if you want her to release a new album this Christmas?

Or are you a Britney fan if you want her to take time off, sort out some of her problems, and come back when she's healthy?

Well her problems were evident well before 'Blackout' came along, so by that logic any 'real' Britney fan (ie, the latter kind, you're saying) should have been against its release.

Sorry Mr PJ, that was a bit of a stupid question. A Britney fan will be happy with whatever it comes.

Agreed. We shouldn't presume she's incapable of doing an album this year, although I know where Mr. PJ is coming from. It does feel a little bit like when Amy Winehouse went to rehab for two weeks and for a second seemed to actually fool people into thinking she was committed to sobriety! Although to be fair to Britney she's seemingly been on the mend for what, 3 months now? Actually maybe it's less than that...

After listening to 'In The Zone' and 'Blackout' today I'd be really disappointed if she changed direction, I think she should realise the only reason that Blackout was not an even bigger success was because she was in no fit state to promote it, the quality of music on that album was phenomenal! I think she's wise to start a new album rather than a re-release of Blackout as lots of people see Blackout as a flop so her promoting it now wouldn't create half the buzz a whole new album would.

I'd be interested to know which producers shes working with this time, it looks fairly likely that shes working with Bloodshy from his conformation on britneyspy.com but I really really hope she picks Danja again as his tracks were by far the best on Blackout

Oh and also to anyone who thinks she isn't ready .... seeing as her father has got her back to normality, if she wasn't ready do you really think he'd be letting her go ahead with a new album???

radar has been confirmed as the 4th single from blackout (the cover has leaked and its very good!)

I think this should be the last single and with a new album out at christmas that would also hopefully boost blackout sales.

I'm so glad she's still working with bloodyshy and avant hopefully we'll get some piece of me and toy soldier sounding tracks.

I still don't get the Gimme More video.. Whats with the blonde Britney at the bar laughing?

The version that we saw wasn't the full thing. I think the rumors were that Jive thought it was too riske and so re-edited it. The video was never meat to be just Britney dancing around a pole for 3 and a half minutes. They filmed more scenes. I keep hoping the original version will get leaked!

The video apparently was too risky, not riske.

I would love a new album, this time next year. Britney will have to be careful, the people of the whole world are on Britney-fatigue right now, she'll have to comeback in a way people will be excited about and not bored of.

I really don't think she was 'healthy', as in properly healthy mentally, in 2003 or 2004 - I think she is probably in a better place now, with mental health professionals visiting her regularly, medication being given, and her parents and Larry Rudolph giving her routine again. After all, when she wasn't recording for a lot of last year, she was just driving around aimlessly and dangerously, shopping frivolously and having nothing better to do.

If she does release a new album at the end of this year, which I think would be rushed, I can't see her actually going full-steam ahead with promotion; some magazine shoots and some music videos, for sure, which I don't think will harm her, but I can't see her doing more yet, particularly if she intends to get shared custody of her two children, which will surely be her and her parents' priority.

It's nice to get some positive Britney press though!

Why do we have to wait until Christmas.

Try September. I jest...

Seriously though. Blackout was amazing but a massive waste in a lot of ways with sub par videos and no promotion.

I want Blackout x10 with amazing dancer britney back and a tour. That's all I want.

And her to be mentally stable and look after her kids etc

I'm definatly anticipating a new Britney album but to be honest I was also excited for a 'Blackout' re-release but I'll appreciate whatever future musical output there is from Brit.

I'm surprised it could be released as soon as the end of 2008 but she seems to be improving mentally at the moment so as long as she can 'come back looking delicious' and hopefully do a few killer performances and interviews, I'll definatly be on board and supporting her all the way! It'd be nice to have one or two ballads on the new album too, I do miss Britney's big ballads occasionally.

This is the supposed 'Radar' cover, I really like it! It goes well with the 'Break The Ice' cover, I just wish 'Gimme More' and 'Piece Of Me' coul have similar themed covers as they're beyond shit:

It is all alittle sad for me and many others most likely, Blackout in my opinion is her best and has gotten some of her best received music reviews, it just seems such a waste. I hope they pull it off.

I meant to write risque not risky. Have you got nothing better to do then check peoples posts for grammar and spelling mistakes? Unless you have an opinion about the content of my posts, I'd prefer it if you didn't pull them apart for spelling mistakes. It's childish.
