Britney Spears - Femme Fatale Tour

Its so refreshing to see those pictures after all the reports of ticket sales being poor..

Can't wait to see her at Newcastle, Thursday couldn't come any sooner!

I've been saying this for a while now. But she needs a number 1 smash hit (especially over here) and she hasn't had that since Toxic. Toxic is one of her signature songs (along with BOMT).

She's been (sort of) getting away with no promotion or massive hits in the US because she's always been bigger over there than here.

I know some of you might say 3, Womanizer, Til the World Ends, Piece of Me etc. have all been big hits. but they are not 'signature' or career defining hits - they're throwaway pop songs (like so many of the current Guetta esque club tunes).

Her releasing a new single has become such a bloody non-event, it's terrible really. No or little promotion is not good enough.

If she had better material I feel the tickets would be selling. Womanizer and Hold it Against Me are not great (to say the least) lead singles from Britney friggen Spears!

I do love Blackout and think Circus is an underrated album. But we're missing some big smashes. Femme Fetale has not delivered and is quite a weak album, for me.

I've loved Britney from day one but sometimes I question why. She's not up there with Gaga, Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy bloody Perry in terms of popularity/exposure and with kids these days (I feel old). It's so sad she's not considered to be in the 'big 4' even though I try and delude myself that she is.

Sorry for rambling/random thoughts.

She's not 'up there' with them because she isn't OUT there. She's so distant, especially in Europe, and even when she does appear she doesn't come across that well. Mini interviews are all well and good but we need performances quite frankly. I don't think the material's the issue either, if she got out there and performed it her chart performances would be better. Simple as.

Although to be honest she doesn't deserve to be lumped in with that lot, who quite frankly owe a LOT to Britney. She's kind of in a league of her own. Unless you count Christina.

It's because she's not connecting the way she use to. She has rid herself of controversialney, which was her biggest form of exposure. Since her break she has not really promoted, connected or even wowed audiences.

She needs, for the next album, a massive era+campaign. She needs to be everywhere, also needs to lighten the fuck up allowing us to connect with fun-ney.
Look at Gaga, Katy and Rihanna they are everywhere and have personalities that their fans connect with.

It's all about being in public conscience, which Britney is not. She needs to re-build her public relationship, right from scratch.

This whole era feels like an old woman telling her lifestory to her grandchildren then trying to reenact it.

Sorry for the random outburst, I'll go lock myself up in a cupboard now.

As much as I'd love for Britney to be everywhere and be the leader of the pack, I think those days passed us by a while ago and I'm not even sure that's what she wants anymore. I think as long as she's happy, we should be happy. Maybe the tour isn't amazing but we've gotten some decent videos and one of her most cohesive albums ever...nothing wrong with that.

Though I suppose if I lived in Europe I would be furious that she wasn't receiving attention for her music at all...but Stateside she's had her most successful singles run ever, chartwise.

I am glad that it's all gone well in the states for sure, but yes it is a bit demoralising to be a European Britney fan these days.

There are so many questions surrounding Britney, Professionally. She needs to do one of those one hour specials where she just answers everything.

Yes, it is very frustrating being a fan in Europe, especially when you have friends that only remember her breakdown.

The live singing thing will continue to bury her as a live performer.

I think that's the major thing holding Britney back in the public's estimations now. It was forgivable with the constant dancing but with that all but gone it does seem a bit laughable. Thing is, she CAN sing. The clips of her as a little girl show such a powerful voice. I guess her current style of music just isn't the right vehicle for that vocal though.

Time for that Sheryl Crow style album we were supposed to get when she started out.

But she's not going to sing live until she gives up dancing completely...and is that ever going to happen?

Come on. She barely dances a lot of the time. She could stand still and sing several songs 100 percent live. It will never happen. She's not dedicated enough to get her voice back is my feeling. But who knows.

I know she's not dancing as much anymore, and I would very much love for her to sing at least a few songs live...but since her excuse for lip-syncing was always dancing, it's likely to continue to be that way for a long time, right?

I wish she'd even do the talking bits of the songs live - there is absolutely no reason for her to be lipping stuff like the Slave intro or the verses of How I Roll.

I had such high hopes at the beginning of the tour when everyone was saying that her mix was on and she was singing along - I thought that meant she was more confident and comfortable and was working towards becoming a live vocalist again but I don't know if I think it will ever happen, either.

Ditching her overprotective and generally useless management is simply an absolute must. She needs to be a bit brave and confident and stand up for herself. It won't be easy though. She just seems... broken.

When I watch that I actually cant believe it happened. Today it seems like something from an alternate universe.

Wow, great video. And you're right... it does seem like something from an alternate universe. The problem is that when I think of "Britney Spears", I think of a scared, sluggish robot with tranny makeup being pushed around in a shopping trolley. It's impossible to connect the old and the new. It doesn't even seem like the same person. I really feel she's trashing her legacy at this point.
