Britney Spears - Glory

I’d honestly never heard - or heard of - the All Seeing I version of The Beat Goes On before today in this thread, so I found Britney’s cover to be such a ‘funky, cool, avant-garde’ outlier in her discography for ages. It’s such an oddity for the album it’s on, but it sounded so ahead of its time and like a sneak preview of some of her later, post-teens material. For me, it was an early sign that she was going to be a pop star unafraid of risks.

I've never listened to the album in full but then again I'm not really a fan of any of the singles.

I understand Baby is an absolute classic pop song of course, but I can probably count on two hands how many times I've listened to it in the past 10 years, it's personally a single of hers that I generally don't have any interest in revisiting frequently (don't kill me).

The first two eras don't really do much for me (bar Lucky and Stronger), it was the Britney album and I'm a Slave 4 U that got my attention.

I just don’t understand. Like I can’t comprehend. My mind isn’t able to process this.

Speaking of From the Bottom of My Broken Heart, did you guys know about this song?

They use the exact same melody for the chorus (1:06) and apparently got away with it because nothing happened, it was a hit all over Latin America I think and I used to love it as a kid but had no idea about the Britney sample until a few months ago when listening to her debut. It’s still a bop and a half though.

Yass, this is a 2000s classique in Mexico.
