I love it. It may be cheesy as hell but it's still a lovely song and one of Britney's most genuine vocal performances I think. It pained me counting the scores and seeing people give it low rankings.
Sometimes is out!! I'll just have to cope with realizing that I have the opposite views on here of what is good britney and what is not so good britney.
Released as the second and final single from her Greatest Hits: My Prerogative compilation album, Do Somethin' managed to chart well in the United Kingdom, making it to Number 6. The song only managed to reach the bottom position of 100 on the US Billboard Hot 100 charts. The song was never intended for a single release, but Spears managed to convince her record label to go through with it, as well as make a music video for the song. Released in 2005, it was Britney's last single for 2 years until she would release her album, Blackout in 2007.
This was released as the lead single from Britney's 4th studio album, In The Zone, making it the first lead single to leave the competition. It is a well-known Britney song as it features a guest appearance from fellow pop royalty, Madonna. The video of the song is known for it's lesbian undertones between the two mega stars and had a huge build up to it's release following a controversial performance at the 2003 VMA Awards in which Britney and Madonna engaged in a kiss live on stage. The single had success in the UK singles charts, managing to peak at the Number 2 position, while it made Number 35 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Do Somethin is shit and Me Against The Music hmm yeah sucks but only like it for the Madonna being in it and love the video but not a great song. Would love if Madonna was featured on another song from that album instead of this one.
This was the first and only single to be released from Britney's second compilation album, The Singles Collection. It is known for it's sexual lyrics about having a threesome and contains a reference to 60's musical trio, Peter, Paul & Mary. The song was a big success for Britney, becoming only the third single of her career to top the US Billboard Hot 100 Charts. The song debuted at the Number 1 position, making Spears the first artist in 3 years to do so, and the first non American Idol artist in 11 years to do so. The single also charted at Number 7 on the UK Singles Chart.
