Britney Spears

I still wonder if Work Bitch might have been a sick joke at her expense. The lyrics make me a bit uncomfortable knowing what we know now.

And ditto making her record with Jamie Lynn and sing about enjoying alcohol when she wasn't allowed to drink. SMH...

She seems to actually really like "Work Bitch", because it's the only song she's acknowledged from that album post-conservatorship.

I've honestly never gotten the hype surrounding Work Bitch. "The only song I kept from Britney Jean is Work Bitch" is something I see a lot, nope not for me. It's just as vapid, hollow and empty as the other songs on the record.

Glory remains one of her best though, it's a shame we'll probably never have a follow-up.

It’s not just you, I’ve always disliked it. I find the message behind it gross and she sounds robotic. I listened to Britney Jean once and haven’t returned to it since.

It's so sad to look at how she was doing well (or as well as one could be doing given the circumstances) around Glory, and they did their best to ruin that. Whatever happened in 2019 seems to have been the worst of it all.

The sick thing is they didn't want her getting well or they'd have less justification to keep her under the conservatorship. Well it didn't work anyway, but still left her with a load of poor mental health and trauma.

Work Bitch is the only song I return to from that album, but even then I feel a little uneasy. I’ve been a huge Britney fan since Baby…, but after learning all that happened during the conservatorship - how they forced her to tour and record against her will, using her children as a bargaining tool - I feel conflicted by it all. The first four albums, remix and greatest hits, no problem. Glory, all good. But the rest… it’s hard to separate the music from the reality now.

I really like Work Bitch and it was a risky-ish, but good lead single choice. Her leads are interesting because they’re hit or miss commercially, but she always had a great second single waiting in the wings.

Not for me either, I kept Don't Cry and It Should Be Easy.

I know the latter is objectively a bad song, but I'm sorry, it makes me laugh because it's so weird. Especially love the line where she shades her boyfriend for being unattractive ("I know they're out there, them beautiful men, but you're my future baby, you're my right now") Poor David Lucado.
