TV is so good these days, people take so much more care with the scripts and characters than they used to. Not just something going to the CW for the tweens. With it being Hulu and Chloe I have faith it could really work.

The only Chloé Zhao project I’ve seen is Nomadland which was excellent but very different to Buffy. I heard Eternals was kinda bad.

And then the only project from the writers I’ve seen is Suits. Which is again very different to Buffy.

David and James need to stay as far away from this show as they can though. No verkakte CGI de-aging mess that makes everyone look dead behind the eyes.

Oh wow. I’m very conflicted about this, but it sounds like it could be the right approach. Bringing this universe back and telling a new story with recurring cameos is the best case scenario and it sounds like it might go that way? I’ll stay cautiously perched. If it does happen it needs to be a success, too. I couldn’t take another Veronica Mars situation.

Eternals is one of the best and most unique marvel projects, it was just a little too ahead of its time for certain people.

I saw the news first from her posting it so … while she’s dead … I wonder if she will be involved or if she’s just posting because she’s excited for her friend.

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed. If this actually goes ahead and somehow manages to capture the magic of the original but making it relevant for today then I will be so happy.

A soft reboot is surely the way they will go. Have a new slayer and core group and have Buffy slot into that in either a supporting or recurring role.

I doubt Sarah would want to be the lead to be honest. I can see her preference being in a supporting role plus exec producer credit.

I’m gobsmacked. I’m mid rewatch and was genuinely grieving the idea it would never happen all over again.

This is incredible news and it’s an interesting team at least.

Other articles are confirming a younger slayer with Buffy not as the central character - which feels right.

And we were only talking about possible ideas for a new show a few weeks ago... glad Sarah is involved, I'd much rather see her back in some way guiding a new generation cast than a full on reboot.

Buffy being a recurring character throughout would definitely be the best way to go.

I don’t think SMG would be signed on or up for it if she didn’t think it would succeed, she’s very protective of Buffy so I’m excited to see what comes!

The director is very interesting and makes me think we’re going for a very different tone, which I think is probably the right way to go. Create something that is distinctly its own, a different window on that universe.
