I've always felt that something like Slayer could work. I know it's generic, but it also means that if Sarah decided to move on or if the slayer who was the focus of the show decided to leave then they could continue.Buffy as a recurring would work best for sure. Something similar to how they rebooted the scream films is the best way to go I think.
I wonder what they’d call it?
This is why Sarah posted the yummy sushi pj pic yesterday right?!
Praying this is real and doesn't wind up in development hell or cancelled after the pilot episode.
When I say recurring I don’t mean like she’d be a side character she’d still very much be THE character, but maybe a more elusive presence at first and to be introduced maybe more slowly in a “you guys are in a crisis, I’m on my way”, kind of way. it might be really exciting if they built up to her first appearance a bit before integrating her fully with the newer cast.Buffy should not be recurring. It's her fucking show/universe. They can have her being a mentor to a newer slayer by all means, but she needs to be (co) lead and still kicking ass.
I met a couple of writers working on it: Sarah is attached and playing an older curmudgeon because of how much being a slayer ruined her life, vs an inspiring "slayer mother" type character.
Showrunner is Chloé Zhao who did the Eternals.
Ugh because Buffy as jaded curmudgeon worked so well in Season 7? Hopefully Chloe Zhao can bring mcuh more nuanced writing to it though! So it's been pointed out that someone actually posted this a month ago on Reddit:
Interesting that we'll seemingly be getting a jaded Buffy? In my head, she's been at peace since the series finale. I'll be kind of sad if they go the angle of having her been miserable since the series ended, but obviously this is an incredibly small bit of info and it can be taken many different ways depending on the actual storyline.
