Buffy the Vampire Slayer / Angel

I'm really looking forward to Dollhouse.

My favourite episode has to be The Body, purely because it was a massive slap in the face for everyone who pissed all over Buffy as just another fantasy show. The Body showed how much the writing and direction could move you, without any element of the supernatural.

I hate it when the vampire is in the hospital at the end, as I felt it should have purely been dedicated to something that Buffy couldn't fight, but that's of little importance.

Gingerbread and Earshot are probably my favourite episodes.

'Gingerbread' is immense! The whole M.O.O. idea was brilliant and the ending! I find it really difficult to pinpoint my absolute favourite episodes but they would have to include:

Tabula Rasa, Once More With Feeling, Hush, Fear, Itself ('actual size...!'), Bad Girls, The Prom (Buffy getting her award as 'Class Protector' is such a wonderful moment), Bewitched Bothered & Bewildered, Family, Becoming, I Was Made To Love You (it's so cheerful and lighthearted and then goes into the bitch of a show that is 'The Body' :( ), When She Was Bad ('a Bitca?')...there are too many!

One thing's for sure though it would certainly not include Seeing Red, The Body and to a lesser extent Passion. Those shows just fucked up my emotions and killed some of my favourite characters so I couldn't include them. Ever.

Did anyone see the episode 'once more with feeling' (i think it was called), when they sang the whole way through the episode, i thought it was great, in fact so much so, i bought the cd and dvd!

Have I seen it?! I'm still obsessed by it 7 years later! I have the CD, DVD (even though I already have all the bible-book boxset versions), the script book, musical poster (which is yummy), I can't get enough of it.

Amber's 'Under Your Spell' is probably one of my favourite songs of all time, who would have thought such an amazing show could take a risk like doing a musical episode and not fail?

'They got the mustard outtttt!'

David Fury is the mustard guy which always amused me, and Marti Noxon is the woman who sings about having no underware! But you knew that already. I love Amber's version of Under Your Spell but the original (the one by Joss' wife) is amazing.

Kai's version is available to hear?! I'd love to hear that, I'll have to see if it's on youtube or something. And I adore Marti and David's appearances in the episode, its little things like that which cement my BTVS love.

I love the Watchers Guide books but I have to say while volumes 1 and 2 were very concise the third one seems really thrown together, does anyone else feel this? The first two volumes really went into the music of Buffy, cast interviews etc yet the third one was padded out with fan essays on the show which I never had that much interest to really read. Shame.

Kai's version is on the end of the Buffy Musical CD. You already own it!

But that's of 'Something To Sing About'...

The Prom (Buffy getting her award as 'Class Protector' is such a wonderful moment),

Never ever ever ever fails to give me a lump in my throat.
So cute.

Totally!!!

I love MOO in Gingerbread. "Tell it to moo!"

The Body was amazing, but so, so sad. I think I cry every time in that one, and also when they find Tara dead and Dawn (sat in the corner) says she didn't want to leave her alone... Argh, I'm welling up just typing it!

"Oh, and nice acronym Mom!" Love it.

the Body makes me cry every single time too, and I'm not a person who cries easily when watching TV! It's just so perfectly done.

Oh God, sorry. You're right of course, I am no longer fit to be called a Buffy fan!

Oh hush, it's no biggie Mister, but you did get my hopes up a bit then!

ANYWAY...

Has anyone got a favourite quote from either show? It's hard to pick but some standout ones would have to include 'Wish me monsters' and 'I am a man and I have a tool' and almost everything Anya ever said on the show - ever.

I think my favourite line was on Buffy's birthday when Anya, alien to the concept, says: "This is extremely suspenseful. I want the presents!"

My boyfriend and I replay this during gift-giving occasions.

Cordelia had some great lines too; "this is all about me. Me, me, me!" Xander: "this time she's actually right."

Cordelia is so FIERCE in Buffy, and to an extent in Angel. I hated it when she went all evil :(

While The Body is the only Buffy episode to make me cry, You're Welcome is the only Angel episode to make me cry. At the end when Angel realises where Cordelia was all along...
HEART BREAKING.

'I mock you with my monkey pants!'

I love that! the animal crackers bit is so cute. i'm trying to think of Buffy quotes that I use all the time. I know there are some but I can't think of them. I do say 'shrug' when I shrug though.

This website's pretty good http://www.buffyquotes.co.uk/ I'm currently reading some of the Anya ones!

"This is getting to be a pattern with you, Buffy. Are there any friends of yours left you haven't tried to kill?"

I adored Buffy back in the day, still do actually. It was quite simply the best show ever made. I'd always get in to heated debates with people who you brand the show just a bit of tits and arse with a few fight scenes thrown in. It was so much more.

Never did like Angel though.

"I guess I just realized how amazingly screwed up they all are. I mean really, really screwed up, in a monumental fashion. And they have no purpose that unites them so they just drift around, blundering through life until they die... which they... they know is coming, yet every single one of them is surprised when it happens to them. They're incapable of thinking about what they want beyond the moment. They kill each other, which is clearly insane. And yet, here's the thing -- when it's something that really matters, they fight. I mean, they're lame morons for fighting, but they do. They never... never quit. So I guess I will keep fighting, too"

Anya - Season 7

Buffy is only the greatest show ever. I own every season on DVD, which Im glad I do because when I watched it again (older) I appreciated it so much more.

I used to love the bit (I think it's in Season 5) where Buffy says to Dawn:

"You're the man. A very short, annoying man."

"I think I speak for everyone here when I say, huh?!"

Some of my absolute favourite episodes are "When She Was Bad" (Buffy being a bitch and that dance scene with Xander, phenomenal), "Revelations" (Evil Watcher + huge Buffy vs. Faith fight), "Tough Love" (Season 5's Evil Willow was way cooler), "Normal Again" (What if it was all a dream).

Glory was my fave big bad, I loved her airhead bimboish behaviour combined with her insanity and strength it was a force to be reckoned with.

I don't like Season 7 at all. It started promisingly with a couple of great episodes including "Selfess" (Anya's backstory), but it just morphed into a boring and messy soap opera where each episode went into the next one to simply push the plot forward. No great standout moments here...

And I became a fan because of Buffy and seeing the writers demolishing her character during Seasons 6 and 7 made me furious. No wonder SMG got pissed off and fed up. The obsession with Spike, the dead lesbian, clepto sister, Doublemeat Palace and one out of the blue non-Wedding reception were further lowpoints.
