Now y'all know I've got more time for Miss Cabello than most. I love a hustler, and I love a girl who is leaving it all out on stage... but I can't help but feel all the punches are pulled on this album a bit. It's just so treacly and... earnest. It's not very fun, there's not a lot of tension. There's just no stakes to it?
The level of creative control she's exercised since going solo is admirable but... she's in an unfortunate position where she's not accomplished enough as a songwriter along with kinda just having poor taste. Like, "Dream Of You" is probably the best thing here but it also sounds like something that would have fit on either of Taylor's last two albums, and she's a songwriter on autopilot most of the time these days.

Dream of You and Used To This are immediate favorites of the new songs even if they do sound a bit like she cleaned out the Lover demos to find them.
I wonder what would have happened if she had kicked off this era with Living Proof. That seems to be the one that's resonating with people the most, especially through the live performances.

The album is a nice, consistent little listen but it lacks a clear high-point for me. A lot of good songs (I think Used To This is my favorite as well) but nothing really blew me away on first listen.
Can't stop thinking about it too. If all the efforts with multiple videos and different songs had been focused on one, perhaps she could have made it a hit. As of now Living hasn't even been sent to radio apparently...
I’m enjoying this much more than I thought I would and it’s a vast improvement on her debut too.

If she had started with Living Proof instead of the dead on arrival Shameless/Liar, everyone would have been a lot more excited about this.
This is such a good album, I was pleasantly surprised! Cry For Me and Shameless are still my favourites, but First Man, Used To This and My Oh My are all great too.
Surprised only two songs from this bothered the US iTunes 100, I thought she was a big pop girl?
