Shy Boy is actually a perfect first taste in that it's straight forward pop however a pop soundscape Carly hasn't really done yet. Most of the album is that. By "experimenting" no one meant she was feeling her Bjork oats or anything. It's fun hearing her play with other pop sensibilities and it working so well.
I’ve accepted that Carly albums will have a ‘Beach House’ moment. But I just cannot accept that moment being TRACK ONE. Those vocals are so cringe whyyyyy

They did what they had to do by getting Danielle Haim to do the drums on Shadow. A career highlight for all involved!
Kamikaze is everything.
First listen was fantastic, but her albums always take 4 or 5 listens for me to form solid opinions. The songs really unravel themselves over repeated listens so I’m excited to hammer this all weekend.

Just to be clear, despite my aforementioned shade towards the opening track (lol), I think this may in fact be her best album. Everything else is gorgeous, groovy, catchy, sophisticated. It’s so so good!
