Favorite Lyric:
And I've been waiting to recognize that sparkle that's in your eye. Those two dimples on your cheeks, the joy that lights the fire. (The second verse in general has similar energy to Taylor's "You've got a smile that could light up this whole town. I haven't seen it in a while" albeit for different reasons, but I love it because of that.)

And we lose
another song from Tug Of War. The opening track on the album, Bucket was written by Carly and Ryan Stewart, and produced by the latter. It was released as the album's third single on April 4, 2009 and peaked at #32 on the Canadian Hot 100. We love a top 40 hit! It is our first song to have ever been in the top 100 and have a 7+ average.
I've always thought this song is pretty divisive and I think the scores above prove that. It certainly had to grow on me. I used to really dislike it but now I think it's a pretty cute, fun, quirky little bop. It's a nice little openber and it's catchy. I like the groove of it all, and the clap-along rhythm and the way all the instruments work together. It's not one of her best singles or songs but it's not one of her worst and it does what it sets out to do and I respect it for that. I don't really have a lot to say about it besides that. Oh, I will say every time she sings "forget yourself" in the first verse it sounds like she's saying "fuck it yourself" to me ddddd.
@LoveMachine (3) says what a lot of you were probably thinking:
This is kinda nice and summery and entirely forgettable. I'm sure some might find it blasphemous but I'm not really here for early Carly. This album has absolutely no impact on me. I'm sure you've noticed, but that's true for most people here ddd.
@daninternational (4.75) is right:
It's fine. Pretty much, yeah.
@SyPOPhantic (5) is also correct:
It’s a cute song, nothing I’d really go back to but it’s cute. Yeah I never really listen to this either ddd.
@unnameable (5) has a point:
the nursery rhyme-ness of it all grates a little Yeah that took me a bit to get used to it, but it works as a melody for me now. Still a little bit of an oof though.
@slaybellz (7) pulls a pop3blow2:
This sounds like a mix between The Tide Is High and like a Sugar Ray song which is making me laugh for some reason. I get what you mean to be honest ddd. And
@pop3blow2 (8.4) himself crowns Carly:
The sun goes down tag here is just an early sign of her genius in this regard. Taylor may be this queen of song bridges, but Carly is the queen of tags. Vocal is a tad shaky here, though… by Carly standards. The tag is cute yeah, and personally I don't really notice any shakiness but that could just be me.
