Produced with her buddies Berger and Pontus, “For Sure” was a bonus track on the Target and international deluxe editions of Dedicated. I love the calm and quirkiness of this song. The chanting claps, the building, thunderous percussion and winding synths are such a nice, almost cinematic juxtaposition to rather raw lyrics. How do you know when the end is actually the end? This song beautifully explores that indecision and remorse you feel when you’re in that gray space. Like she’s mourning the relationship before she’s certain it’s over and needs confirmation from her partner to put the restlessness of her mind to ease. Carly is so good at conveying emotions, not only lyrically but with the vulnerability with which she sings. You can hear the tenderness, regret and longing in her voice. Whether it’s all of her years performing in musicals, or just a natural talent of hers to tackle the words she’s singing like an actress, she knocks it out of the park every time.

@daninternational (10) "What do you get when you mix together Shakespeare's Sister,
Annie Lennox, Lumidee and Gwen Stefani? A 10"

@unnameable (7) "pleasant, but an inessential track from this album"

It's very cute to see people argue there is any cynism at play at the Carly Rae Jepsen rate of all places dd. No girls, maybe some of us just don't have such low standards when it comes to Carly! This song takes me to the exact same place as P!nk - Just Give Me a Reason (feat. Male). She can keep her schmaltzy, theater kid, whitest-cast-member-of-Glee persona hidden away if it's up to me. This is for the soccer mums, the Australian GP, for AC radio in Germany, and the fact she had anything LGBT in mind while making this is honestly patronizing.

Now For Sure... that's one of her all time best right there. @daninternational aren't you ever tired of being right?

Yes, I'm sure everyone can tell Carly's intention when recording that song was clearly attempting to appeal to the soccer mums and snatch an AC hit...
And I'm sure if you read my post more attentively you will notice how I mention she thought she was doing something LGBT but could only achieve an extremely straight middle aged vibe instead. Semantics!

I mean, to each their own, but honestly to think anyone would listen to that song and watch that video and come to the conclusion that it's giving... "straight middle aged vibe", Glee and Just Give Me A Reason (???) makes me a bit sad more than anything. Like, something being unashamedly joyful and/or a bit theatrical doesn't automatically make it either GP-pandering or bad, and this song really is neither in the slightest.

There are a lot of weird and negative assumptions about Carly's intentions there. Good grief. Trying to do "something LGBT"... oh bother.

The only time I remember Carly doing anything intentionally LGBTQ+ was the end of the Call Me Maybe video and all the pride and white parties she's performed at over the years...etc

Ps. Although probably not intentional, the line "Living like servant to a secret I was tryna protect" in Kollage is perhaps her most LGBTQ moment ever, but more on that later.

Keep Away - 10. Having this as just a Bonus track was criminal; it's absolutely gorgeous, especially the first two thirds. Then it surprises you by going in a slightly different but equally wonderful direction.

Body Language - 10. There's such an interesting syncopated beat throughout. Love the 'I just think we're overthinking it etc' part of the chorus which becomes an underlying refrain later on.
