Produced with her buddies Berger and Pontus, “For Sure” was a bonus track on the Target and international deluxe editions of Dedicated. I love the calm and quirkiness of this song. The chanting claps, the building, thunderous percussion and winding synths are such a nice, almost cinematic juxtaposition to rather raw lyrics. How do you know when the end is actually the end? This song beautifully explores that indecision and remorse you feel when you’re in that gray space. Like she’s mourning the relationship before she’s certain it’s over and needs confirmation from her partner to put the restlessness of her mind to ease. Carly is so good at conveying emotions, not only lyrically but with the vulnerability with which she sings. You can hear the tenderness, regret and longing in her voice. Whether it’s all of her years performing in musicals, or just a natural talent of hers to tackle the words she’s singing like an actress, she knocks it out of the park every time.
@daninternational (10) "What do you get when you mix together Shakespeare's Sister,
Annie Lennox, Lumidee and Gwen Stefani? A 10"
@unnameable (7) "pleasant, but an inessential track from this album"
