He/Him

Carly Raete Jepsen: 15 Years Of Pop Perfection
In September of 2007, history was made when Carly Rae Jepsen won the fifth season of Canadian Idol…okay, so that didn’t actually happen. She only came in third. But one year later, at only 22 - almost 23 - years old, Carly released her debut album Tug of War, and while it didn’t make much of an impact, Carly continued to write and record music and three years after that album’s release, on September 20, 2011, Call Me Maybe was sent out into the world, and from there, well, the rest is history. Becoming one of the biggest songs of the century, launching hundreds of thousands of covers, parodies and memes, and even overshadowing the artist herself, it pretty much secured Carly’s general public legacy of “the Call Me Maybe” girl. But it can also be assumed it secured Carly a solid place in the pop music landscape. In the years since, Carly has been able to release critically acclaimed album after critically acclaimed album, with accompanying Side B projects featuring songs from those albums sessions, all the while being a wonderful light and much loved artist among many music lovers, especially queer people. This year marks the 15-year anniversary of Tug of War and I genuinely can’t think of a better time to celebrate the discography of one of the best pop artists of the past decade and a half.
Rules
1.) You will take all of the 125 songs listed below, listen to each of them, and score them on a scale from 1-10.
2.) You are allowed the option of giving one song the coveted score of 11 and one song the harsh score of 0.
3.) Commentary is not required but extremely encouraged as I always love reading the thoughts everyone has on the songs, as simple as they may be.
4.) No trolling. It’s perfectly okay to not like a certain album or two, but if your whole ballot ranges from 1-4, it won’t be accepted.
5.) I’d like your ballots to be sent in by the tentative date ofMay 8th, 2023 May 22nd, 2023.
And I’d just like to extend an invitation to anyone who might be interested in making graphics for the rate! I have no skills when it comes to this and haven’t been able to find anyone who’s able to do it.
