Carrie Underwood

This is a huge generalization that's honestly not true. So many aren't.

That may be true, but I don't see any other genre's artists coming out of the woodwork in the same prominence to either support him, or support his ideas.

Clearly I'm not speaking to artists like Dolly, Maren Morris, Taylor, etc who are clearly anti-Republican/trump nonsense. But you cannot tell me that a majority of the major country artists (especially the men) who make up the largest faction of the industry are, or would be willing to speak up against trump. His supporters make up a good percentage of their fanbases.

Maybe you are lucky enough to not live in a territory that does not see the every day connection between ignorance, country music, and hyper conservatism/Trumpism, but as someone stuck in Alberta, Canada, which has no real connection to the US other than being known as the Texas of Canada, but I see this pseudo cowboy-never-seen-a-horse-before-but-women-need-to-submit Alberta boy nonsense, hyper conservatism, Trump needs to annex Canada, bullshit on the daily, and honestly the connection between country music, the people I know who are major country music fans, and the most gutter-grade conservative racist garbage humans, is a straight line and completely exhausting to me.

I can't add much that hasn't been said already. I know we already kind of knew this already, but for her to be so brazen about it... What a loser! She's got the idol judging gig, she's doing pretty well for someone 20 years into their career so she's clearly doing this to make a point and nothing else.

Up to (and including, tbh) Cry Pretty she had one of my favourite discographies, but I'm done.

I share some of the nostalgic feelings in here about rooting for her on American Idol. I remember when she covered Heart's Alone and tore my little gay wig off; it seemed like such a pivotal moment in her standing out. What a hateful woman she must be. I'm disappointed but honestly not surprised, given her husband's reported anti-vax views.

Why would she do Miranda Lambert like this.

I don't have any specific attachment to Carrie but I feel this is just the beginning in the normalization of Trump and the far right in the US. There is no Resistance anymore; people now accept that this is what a large part (majority?) of the country wants, they know who he is and willingly voted for him and that includes celebrities. Masks are off and there will be no shaming of MAGAts like there was 8 years ago.

I slowly started to loose interest when she started co-producing with David Garcia (another MAGA nut) and the music wasn't as good. Also her association with the Aldeans.

I’m genuinely sad about this, even though the writing has been on the wall for a while with her X activity. Some Hearts is one of my go to comfort albums that I know every word of and have adored for years.

Another one to add to the ‘never listen to ever again’ list. First R****n M****y and now Carrie. Can my faves please stop being fucking awful people?

Hi, I'm in the middle of the Bible Belt in the United States and can speak from firsthand experience that this part of the country is no more a monolith than any other population discussed on this forum, and these sorts of generalizations/assumptions are not only counterproductive but actively harmful xx.

I wasn't talking about the bible belt? I was talking about Alberta.

Honestly I went a bit too hard ddddd. Projected my frustration with my recently turned, apparently very racist Maple-Maga family members I used to be close to.

It's no secret that a lot of the Country industry is Republican and Trumpy, but there's definitely a good number that aren't. Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris, Brandy Clark, Miranda Lambert, Keith Urban and more.

The signs were always there for Carrie but like everyone else has said, it's really disappointing to see her make such a big statement doing this. The other artists that have publicly gone all in on Trump are like....Kid Rock and Jason Aldean.

Not the best example to use based on recent events.

nn yeah that slipped my mind. Apparently he and Trisha had been friends with the Carters since the 80's, they met working for Habitat for Humanity or something. Not the best example but he still identifies as a Democrat and is anti-Trump.
