Read & Make Out and To Be Yours as song titles alongside The Subway. Wonder if this’ll be bundled into a “just fun vibes” EP.

Well, I'm kinda disappointed that those characters were just for lyrics video. Kind of insane how she hasn't droppd a music video since....her breakthrough. Girl.

Love the aesthetic though, and I guess this is potentially a future single?

That’s already 5 songs deep. Definitely think we’re getting the second album late this summer.

I think it’s funny how much she hates doing music videos.

This is weird listening to this after I heard it months ago on SNL. And then the build up for the last month? Probably a better bet to let it rest for the album, and bring it out later in the campaign. Whatever the hell she’s doing. I have a feeling it might be a while till we see anything else coming…

What makes you say that? She's literally teasing three more songs in the lyrics video? And all this build-up and hype only to go away for a while? Like, anything could happen, I guess, but nothing indicates it'll be a while before anything else?

I think the rollout was purely because she wanted to do something fun with her friend

If I’m being really honest, if this wasn’t released by Chappell and if we remove the lesbian-country concept, I wouldn’t be listening to this once after my initial play.

Her power… I guess?

Dd this logic is always funny to me because like of course I wouldn’t be listening to some random song (any song!) removed from the context surrounding an artist I enjoy

This feels half-baked for me unfortunately. I didn't listen to it on SNL mainly because I didn't want demo? live version-itis? before the studio version was out. The chorus absolutely does not work for me lyrically (take it like a taker / cuz baby I'm a giver), though she sounds fine on it. Overall I like the concept of it, I just think they really could've gone somewhere else with it.

That’s… what I’m saying?

Yes… I’m aware. My point is that it’s something that comes up often when an artist releases a song someone doesn’t like. We constantly see stuff like “if ___ released this instead would you even care?”, of course I wouldn’t, and ___ didn’t release the song so the hypotheticals are just funny to me—nothing to do with you specifically.

I'm surprised at some of the reactions because this is an undeniable stomper to me. Production knocks, she sounds great, and it's fun. I don't get it nn.

I don’t wanna be like, “maybe it’s a cultural thing… US/UK” (especially because I see some non US posters enjoying and US ones who don’t!), but I genuinely think it might be a factor dd

I wouldn’t want a full album of it, but it’s a bop.

Her saying she couldn’t make the middle eight work - it’s like girl that chorus doesn’t flow naturally either.

Rhyming “tell me” with “na-ture” seems very stop start.and obviously “take it like a taker cos baby I’m a giver” is the crux of the song but it falls so flat.

I just keep thinking of Max Martin telling Katy Perry that her songs aren’t mathematically correct…
