I think 5 In The Morning is her only post Pop 2 single that's really that good. Girls Night Out is straight up bad, 1999 is a bop but contrived as fuck, Focus is repetitive and nothingy (I listened to the instrumental by itself and was taken aback by little is actually going on compared to the thrilling dynamic production of some of her other songs), No Angel is a nice melody but overall feels pretty inessential. I just don't see what's impressive about most of these songs.
To be honest with you Diane, I think Charli just...might be saving her more “experimental” records for her albums. Between Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 we got Boys, and while I don’t think anything she’s put out since then bar maybe 1999 has been as “basic”, the summer singles seemed like a way to get some new music and fan favorites out and attempt to keep the whiny Discord gays sated while she toured and recorded more material.
