Cheryl

1. Court errors are real, so I wouldn't put much weight behind her being exonerated of the racially aggravated assault charge dd. Didn't she call her ... multiple slurs?

2. It's cute that y'all have decided because it's not a problem to you, it shouldn't be a problem to anyone else, including ... y'know ... the communities that are directly impacted by racism and also responsible for birthing, driving, progressing R&B/soul/hip-hop music.

I was just reminding everyone that she was cleared of racial charges, because in the era of Twitter it is easy to rewrite history or to take fake information for facts. But of course people are free to think whatever they want, and if you want to think she is a racist, that's up to you.
As for 2., I said I respect everyone's opinion on it so yes, I'm not offended AT ALL if you think this show is a mistake.

I will say, I didn’t hear anything resembling an apology in this interview. Most of it was spent discussing what a tough time it’s been for Cheryl. So as far as I can tell, she has yet to ever apologize for the assault.

Also, regardless of her being found innocent of the attack being racially motivated in any way, there is good reason for people feeling like a young, prominent white woman assaulting an older Black working class woman, unprovoked, would be inherently discriminatory.

All that aside, it was not a smart decision having a white person front a show that is meant to serve as a love letter to R&B when countless Black artists could benefit from (and offer more to) the subject matter. BBC should be called out for it, as well as Cheryl for agreeing to take part.

He/Him
Some of you riding so hard for Cheryl on this and trying to deflect saying "well Becky can hardly talk" as if she hasn't openly and plainly apologised and expressed regret multiple times whilst the most Cheryl has EVER given is a "I'm sorry it happened / I can't talk about it due to legalities / it's boring now" is... disappointing but not surprising.

Thanks for opening the thread back up again!

Anyone going to watch Cheryl in 2:22? I’m still debating whether to get tickets as I feel all I’ll think throughout the show is ‘that’s Cheryl’ rather than the character she’s playing. I wonder if she’ll put on a different accent? I’m intrigued!

I haven’t been in London since 2017 but this is really get me motivated to go again just to watch her on that.

We have tickets for two shows - two separate gifts from separate people over Christmas - and cannot wait to go watch. Always been intrigued by the play itself and this is just an extra incentive to go watch. However, I just keep hoping and praying that she doesn’t pull a sickie on the nights we go and we end up with an understudy!

In regards to music, I’ve been revisiting her last album, ‘Only Human’ and it slaps harder than I ever remember it doing when it originally came out. Solid tracks that stand up today and it made me think that perhaps fatigue had set in for the idea of Cheryl as a popstar at the time and therefore the album was ignored. Yet, when you play from start to finish, the album slaps hard!

I would definitely see her in"2:22" but I'm not back in the UK till September and I doubt she'll still be in the show then.
It would be nice to see her get back into music since we know a Girls Aloud reunion isn't on the cards.
