Chlöe Bailey - In Pieces + General Discussion

Honestly I'm dreading the inevitable doubling-down post that's probably in her drafts right now, she's online all the time so I can't see how she'd miss what went down yesterday. Plus she has a Discord with fans and I'm sure they were talking shit on there too.

Chloe adding Chris to the song, somehow not realizing that it'll fail to chart on the Hot 100 anyway on top of having fans who've hung on for nearly 2 years jumping ship:

It really wasn't pretty. She announced the release on discord and within 5 minutes, the server was flooded with (rightful) disgust since everyone got an even more direct notification than say IG or Twitter. The part that got ugly was that the mods started banning/timing people out if they had any criticism because they wanted to keep it a ~*positive*~ space.

It's not like the mods are paid staff or anything, but I just felt way too old to be in a discord being timed out for saying something to the effect of "parasocial relationships are unhealthy, because we love the music but we can still not support a misogynist/abuser/someone with a continued history of violent & toxic behavior"

Volunteers power tripping in a space as soon as they hear things they don't like? Groundbreaking.

It's actually shocking how someone can proudly act like that at 33. Like, way to show you haven't actually grown at all in the last sixteen years. I really don't get how anyone would want to work/associate with someone like that, but then again it's the same with, say, Justin Bieber, who's almost as bad, if not worse. I guess people just can't let go of their childhood faves of something.

Not to mention he was 19 almost 20, not 17 … so on top of everything else he is, he’s either stupid (plausible) or he’s trying to rewrite history to make it sound like he was a minor when he absolutely wasn’t.

Oh, that explains it nn. I was surprised to read he was (supposedly) 17 at the time, because he'd already been around for a good while at that point, so it was odd he'd still be that young.

Assaulting your then-girlfriend repeatedly and threatening to kill her is not a "mistake." The more he says, the more he shows his clown ass. What will it take for him to actually get cancelled?

People like him are proof that cancel culture is a myth. No one's ever been canceled, not really. Put on time out for a while? Sure. But they always come back, at least the men do.

I saw a TikTok that explicitly explained how his fans keep de-aging him at the time of the abuse to further give credence to “he was just a child”. It’s crazy how people will accept a 14-year-old giving consent to being urinated on, but that a 20-year-old beating a woman AND reading the police report, could say it was a fight and that she deserved it.

The main connecting thread is just misogynoir. Women, especially Black women, are considered “fast”/“hypersexual”, which contributes to them being considered older than age. Meanwhile Black men are infantilized no matter what they do. That’s the shit here. And what makes people in our community openly working with him so disgusting. Every time.
