Chlöe Bailey - In Pieces

Was there any? Ungodly Hour was amazing and possible aoty or Top 5 of but was barely certified tennis court green and I don't think it drew any attention or build anticipation for her solo stuff.

We’re not talking about the general public though. We’re talking about her core demographic: mid-20s to late 30s gays with varying degrees of daddy issues and social anxiety that’s exploited on Twitter for likes and validation.

This is a bit of a misunderstanding about her demographic. Going on her social media presence, she has plenty of women who follow her also - and were understandably the most vocal about her Chris collaboration. Not to mention... I think 30 is an exaggeration ddd.

It's worth considering that her and Halle have a lot of carry over from Bey's fanbase (probably 50-60%) and the rest are young fans from her TikTok presence. Gays are typically fickle, and while they'll buy Ivy Park in its droves, supporting startup artists on their fav's label actually doesn't translate very often. A lot of the sisters' fanbase are young black women judging by my for you page on TikTok and the fans I've interacted with since ~2016 on social. When Drop was on a loop before the Formation World Tour, the gays were typing 'orgy in 3rd floor toilets!!!' and grabbing their £18 vodka crans from the Wembley bar.

I was only referring to the generally quite positive reception of Ungodly Hour around here. In terms of the GP, I absolutely agree with you. Launching her solo career without at least one well-known, commercially successful Chloe X Halle album has always seemed rather premature.

She can be overbearing (the song opening phrase...) but she knows how to construct a deliciously basic bop.
I don't know if this will do anything - as people noted, it's very Ciara and she has been releasing songs like this for a decade without any chart impact. Maybe with a strong video / Tiktok choreo this will smash?
