Christina Aguilera - 7th Album + Vegas Residency

Damn, Leyenda is really out there looking the best she's ever looked, serving vocals, creativity, ridiculous camp and just overall cunt. Not her lowkey giving a taste of the kind of era some of us were fantasizing about back when the thread was made! She's even bringing out Bionic deep cuts. I'm going to need someone to yell "TAXES!" or whatever through the speakers so that those lame ass millionaires in the audience wake the fuck up though.

Hahahaha point proven!

If me pointing out that some anecdote from however many years ago has no relevance to an entirely different experience is rude, then sure. You sure got me. And do you think this little exercise of yours is going to make me care?

There were so many cute little M&G workarounds artists figured out immediately after covid that I'm amazed most of them have gone back to up-close-and-personal tactile ones. It's just so risky, particularly during winter bug season, and particularly when you're carrying an entire show yourself. But I guess dose up on zinc, hope for the best and get the bag!

When I saw her on her casino tour pre-pandemic, we could see the meet and greet line from our seats. It happened literally 5 minutes before the show started and the line of people were in and out in as much time. I remember noting that it was even shorter than the Britney ones. I bet the photos were much better though!

I definitely consider "Falling in Love Again (Can't Help It)" among Xtina's career highlights. Pretty sure that Linda mentioned the two of them were planning on doing a full electronic album in the vein of that song and the ones on the greatest hits album before the project turned into "Bionic". A real shame that never really ended up happening, I'm totally here for her to explore that sound anytime.

I feel like this was probably the version of Bionic Xtina had mentioned in 2007-2008 that was said to be "short and sweet" at some point, I think it was going to be something like 10 songs. Very electronic, etc. The songs for Keeps Getting Better were meant to be a preview of this, but yeah we didn't get a whole lot of it in the end if you think about the more trip-hoppy, downtempo moments like "Falling In Love Again" or "You Are What You Are"; "Birds of Prey" was pretty much it.

What we did get was still amazing, though. For as bloated as it is, Bionic is still one of my favorite projects of hers. I love the indie-electronic direction. Probably could have been split up into two properly different projects, but that would have maybe been a bit much since she also had the Burlesque soundtrack out that year as well. We were very well fed by her in 2010!

Never heard that track before, I do remember Bionic originally being referred to as short and sweet then we ended up getting a 24 track album, screaming.

I'd be so interested in her exploring this type of electronic soundscape again, Bionic is still my favourite album of hers and she was absolutely correct about it being ahead of its time.
