Christina Aguilera - 7th Album

It's kinda sad that she basically assumes any mention of her in the book would be negative. Not saying she's wrong (she'd have a better sense than I do), but just a bummer that's how their relationship has played out.

I don’t think it was mentioned here, but a clip on that interview shows her saying her Vegas show begins at midnight. Is this normal for a pop show there?

Ticketmaster says it starts at 9:45, but I assume she means midnight for the New Years Eve show.
The late start time must be the way The Venetian structure their shows - Kylie in an interview with Billboard said that she doesn't hit the stage until about 11:15 despite the tickets saying a 9:30 start.

If only she would pair these visuals/looks/energy with new music.

It feels like she's been away for ages and the Spanish album was so forgettable it's as if it didn't even happen.

Umm well... I don't know if this is the reply anyone wanted to hear but it was a bit of a letdown. And before I continue, let me preface this by saying this was 99.9% down to the organisation of the event and the disgusting venue they decided on, which is completely out of Xtina's hands, so while I'm feeling a bit hollow from the experience, I can't blame Xtina for that.

So my review on Xtina herself, she was good. Her energy was fabulous, she's definitely moving around a lot more these days and really trying to do a bit more choreography which is very welcome. She looked incredible and was in such high spirits, thankfully considering the hideous weather. It wasn't a fantastic day for her vocally and I fear only super stans like myself would notice something like that. My boyfriend was super impressed and didn't notice her dodging high notes at the end. The setlist was... the usual, I fully expected her to whip out the Billionaire Tour medley which she did, and rightfully so as most of the attendees were casual fans and just want to see the hits . I do think she could've thrown in Come On Over Baby, The Voice Within & Car Wash as they were big here, maybe in place of Santo (even though I love that song). She also wasn't on stage that much which I knew going into it, having seen these performances since 2014 essentially. She clocked in at 1 hour and 15 minutes of performing, which normally would've been a negative, but because I was so ready to go home, I'll count it as a positive.

On to the bigger gripes I had, for the amount I paid (I got the VIP tickets for $500AUD), the view that was offered was abhorrent. Yes, thankfully it was the only place undercover from the rain, but for the amount spent, it definitely could've been better. It actually didn't start raining until 10 minutes before Xtina came out, so the huge stage lights basically turned her into a white fog when she came out. There were 3 screens present, but annoyingly they would put effects & visuals ON TOP of Xtina so if you couldn't see on stage, you couldn't see the screens either? It was a really stupid decision especially considering how far the audience spanned. I imagine if you were in regular GA then you'd have seen just lights. The people around me in the VIP were also just disrespectful and clearly not fans, which soured the whole experience as well. Some girl behind me was like "why is she singing this (Say Something)? I guess maybe she wrote it (she didn't), because I'm pretty sure Sam Smith sings this. (they don't)" Then asked her friend "when is she going to sing Beautiful?" which is insane to ask at an Xtina show cause when is she not going to sing Beautiful? And that was the issue, these people were just talking and having conversations while Xtina was performing, like we didn't all wait 5 hours for her to come out... Some people were heckling her when she was trying to have touching moments, it was all just ridiculous.

So yeah, in the end I limped 20 minutes away from the venue to catch an Uber, I was feeling pretty upset and a bit empty inside after having waited 22 years for this moment. It's not Xtina's fault and my stancard is still 100% intact, but I can't deny I'm not disappointed about the overall experience.

Long story short, if this was at an indoor, seated venue, I think I wouldn't have a single one of these complaints, genuinely. And my advice to anyone who made it this far, if there is a concert being held on a RACE COURSE, do NOT bother, it will not be worth it.

FUCK I’m so gagged.

The Concert That Stopped The Nation indeed.

Yeah I went to the Melbourne show too and while she herself was fantastic, the venue was horrific.

I was pretty much at the back of the crowd so couldn’t even see her/the stage and relied on the screens which the visual effects kind of ruined at times.

I also felt like too many of the hits were shortened/half sung. It made the entire show go by in the blink of an eye!

Still though, she was fabulous and I would 100% go see her again. I will never go to a gig at Flemington Racecourse ever again, however.
