Chucky - The TV Series

I never can decide with series' if I want to go episode-by-episode or wait till they're all aired?

(PS did Superglowy leave/get banned?)

I found the first episode a bit corny in the typical basic cable series sort of way (hamfisted dialogue, cheesy acting, etc.) but it’s about a killer doll so I guess some of that is to be expected.
The concept of it doubling as a queer coming of age story is so random but keeping me interested. I’m surprised it hasn’t been done sooner for the horror genre.

I really can't wait for this. Being in the UK I'm going to have to try my hardest to avoid spoilers. I don't think I've seen any actual confirmation anywhere that it's going to be on TV here yet... I saw a comment from someone somewhere saying October 21st on Sky, but found nothing to back that up.

EDIT: Ignore, me. Found this: https://www.geektown.co.uk/2021/10/...ked-up-by-sky-in-the-uk-coming-later-in-2021/

Likely in December.. Oh dear. Well... I'm not going to be able to wait until then!

Just watched the first episode and I really enjoyed it! The last Chucky I watched was Seed of Chucky so I’ll have to go back and watch the others but I’m excited to see a queer horror show!

I'm kind of tempted to watch this. I've never watched any of the Chucky films though because I typically don't like horror films. But TV series are usually a little bit more something I can handle. Plus I love that the main character is lgbtq... I actually didn't know the creator of the franchise is gay himself.

Some of the song choices made me feel like I was watching Riverdale or something. Overall I enjoyed it. Something about how Chucky has been handled in this and the last couple movies has looked off also. Maybe it's some CGI added in with practical. Anyways I will continue to watch for the iconic teacher alone: "Shut the fuck up Oliver." Yes!

It kind of caught me off guard how much I enjoyed this, i'll definitely give the rest of the series a shot.
Kim Petras 'Personal Hell' coming on 15 minutes in threw me the most though, like WHY when anything from Turn Off The Light could be of been used.

Just finished episode 2 and I couldnt be enjoying this more.

Like I said I'm a massive Chucky fan but this is totally ticking all my boxes. It's shot really well for what in effect is a low budget TV programme, chucky himself looks phenomenal and its a great mix of using the "is it a doll" technique when we all clearly know he's not.

The second episode was kinda shit? I just thought the dialogue and some of the acting was pretty cringe. I see Don didn't write this one so maybe thats why. That one kill was something and
people who put knifes pointing up deserve such a fate. I said what I said.

I was thinking the same when watching this episode. It’s very film-like and doesn’t feel like a cheap Syfy series. Both episodes have been great. Lexy’s mom read her this episode.

I could be wrong but the fact she looked shocked when the knife drawer was empty lead me to believe Chucky had put them in the dishwasher.

I’ve never watched a Chucky film before but watched the first two episodes of this as they were put up on YouTube and I enjoyed both quite a bit. I’m excited for Jennifer Tilly to show up.

I really love the look of Chucky in this and that we got a mention of Glen/Glenda!

Some of the conversations the characters have and the way they move a story on doesn't seem very natural but I think that's my only complaint.

The cop just blurting out his suspicions of Jake - I'm not sure they would do that.

Do we think Jake's Chucky is a different Chucky to the one that killed the housekeeper. Or was he just bullshitting Jake when he kept saying he didn't do it.

I was wondering the same thing about that and also was glad they mentioned them.

That’s a really good question. I guess we shall see soon.
