Song Exploder did an episode with Butch, Shirley and Billy Bush about
Felt and of all the tracks on NYKOP she doesn't really deserve it to be honest, although it is quite interesting listening to what they were going for and makes this write-up a bit easier. Named after the alt-rock band of the same name, Shirley wanted the song to sound atmospheric and sonic cathedral-y, kind of like a Cocteau Twins track refracted through the Garbage filter, which incidentally made it come out sounding like a budget My Bloody Valentine. Kevin Shields is shook. The adlib that appears in the middle of the song and again at the end was Shirley channelling Siouxsie, specifically from the Banshees track Drop Dead/Celebration fact fans.
@Sprockrooster: This is one big yawn.
@sfmartin: This is so poorly mixed I can't understand a word, it's just a mess of noise. But mostly I like the noise.
@digitalkaiser: I like the smoothness of this song, but I like Shirley’s vocals to be more prominent. I love the that the title feels like it could be on self titled. Yas. (I stan obviously)
@AshleyKerwin: I think I generally liked their laid back stuff more on this album.
@A&E: Is this the band’s take on shoegaze of just poor mixing and mastering again? We might never know.
@constantino: Woah this is BAD. The decay is real
