Yes, as tempting as it was to let Hero live another day and finally let the good sis Charli rest, I couldn't be bothered to make the graphic, so Hero it is. When I put this in the rate, I had no idea how well it would do, though pretty much everyone who had encountered this before decided to stan forever upon one listen, so a strong top 20 finish was expected.

Of course, I have to shoutout to my good sis @NecessaryVoodoo for her hustle and sheer WILL to make this song a forum favourite by forcing it down our throats - queen! No but seriously, it worked, didn’t it? It began with embedding the link repeatedly in the monthly charts threads, it then managed to chart for two consecutive months, and now it’s in the top 15 of a rate, beating out songs by Lorde, Lana, St Vincent and MUNA. Talent always WHAT? Wins.

Let us take a moment to look back at everything Miss @NecessaryVoodoo has been saying and preaching and praying and saying:

For those who still haven't voted yet, it's not too late to throw a few points at George Maple's Hero OK thank you.

That's Hero, by George Maple.

Hero.
All we really want to know is if any missing points for George Maple mean she managed to leapfrog Mole King.
Poor Hero! Y'all are a mess.
We kick off with:

What is there really to say about this other than that it is perfection? Like, this succeeds in everything it was intended to do, snatch wigs in particular. This is majestic, full of light, sparse and yet massive, delicate and yet powerful...this really does it all. You could even say it does...that. The best part? It comes from a total curveball, someone best known as a feature singer for Flume with no solo hits. This 'feature singer' only went on to create the album Jessie Ware should've, but was too boring, married and maternal to make. We don't talk about the interludes...

In an interview with top Australian radio station Triple J, Miss Maple shared the following about the track:

It’s a song that focuses on the strength in vulnerability. I talk a lot about power and strength and this was my realisation that we often forget that vulnerability is such an important aspect when we talk about strength.

I first came across the sample in the Mylo record, [and] I kinda just sang it in at the end of the song – I used to love it so much when I was out clubbing when I was younger. It ended up on the record and I had to contact the writers and get their permission [to use it]. It was a very interesting experience, but they approved!

Michael17 (7) also thinks 'she sounds like Jessie Ware here. A nice banging beat that is still refreshing. Still, the vocals lack so much energy. Very linear. Her album is quite nice, though.'

Mokitsu (7.5) was taken off-guard it seems: I only know her from the DJ Snake collab so I'm kinda surprise at this direction. Either way it's pleasant and catchy, I like it.

Bleedingheart80 (8) continues the high praise: Ooh, this is really good. The chorus reminds me of MUNA and could easily pass for a MUNA song.

Trouble in Paradise (9) spills a drop of tea: This is THE bop.

sfmartin (9) indirectly thanks @NecessaryVoodoo: I love this, it grows and grows on you. I'm grateful for the discovery. The sample is very effective.

Bangers&Bops (9) also takes an anti-Glazzzhouse and I'm so proud to see it: The sound is very euphoric and is driven by the pulsating synths that make you just want to slow dance by yourself under some strobe lights. What Jessie Ware should be making instead of mom-pop.

Happiestgirl (10) makes me a happy girl by gushing over this stunner, calling it ‘so beautiful!’ yas bitch!

Haps (10) hails this as his ‘all time PJSC bop! Thank you, @Lost Boy’.

I’m not sure what Slice of Life is try’na to say but he gave this a 10 so w/e: I'm always binch to this kind of production dddd.

I now await the extra-ness of @NecessaryVoodoo next post...

About ILY2
there was no disagreement that this is an absolute bop, well, apart from @Cassava but we don't listen to her because she drinks.

I mean...just because you're not wrong....

But honestly, I just got back from a 3 day trip with a friend and was sure 1. my 11 would be out (which it isn't, yay!) and 2. I would be scalped bloody. I knew I would be the lowest scorer in a few things. I didn't expect this to be a fav! It's a really good song but I think she should have given it to someone else. Sorry Charles; I love Pop2!

Aw, I really loved George Maple! Somewhere between an accessible Sevdaliza/Banks' Goddess if it was just moody electronica if you need a descriptor for the rest of the album. It was one of my favorite debuts last year. I text my friends the "I first discovered men when I was about 15 and he was much older than me, so I was a bit intimidated so I started to play with him. I resisted him - I said I didn't want him - but... I quite liked it" interlude with my friends whenever the Groupchat goes quiet and they need a kii.

he/him

I only have four 10s left, let me enjoy them ddd (3 are oddly... somehow... Lorde).

I did that thing where you end up feeling guilty and try to give a few songs a high score from each album and totally overrated Love & Lust For Life when they're kind of boring as hell. I should have knocked 3-4 points off of each.
