Lust for Life is one of Lana’s best ever songs. It dances on the edge of destruction and hope, like the twilight before a nuclear doomsday. There’s a peace to it that comes when remembering those moments and people in order to persevere. The chorus is one of her best ever, and it was brilliant to include The Weeknd, someone who has grappled with the other side of existential hopelessness. “A lust for life keeps us alive.” When the future is uncertain we have to hold on to the reasons why we even bother carrying on.

The production is also immense, the harmonies are gorgeous and when the music falls out for Lana’s more delicate approach to the chorus further into the song...
