evilsin (9) - Dat bass! Broop boop boop booboop. And the freaking part: Prejudice - no! Ignorance - no! Bigotry - no! Illiteracy - no!
CasperFan (8) - Not much of a chorus to this one but it’s all about the groove-amazing!
Pop Gaz (6) - If only this had just been an interlude of some kind, again beats us over the head with the message, but this time without a solid song behind it, I can appreciate its importance to the album, but could have done with being an extended intro, and would have got the message across just as well.
WhatKindOfKylie? (10) - This is hot! Anything as funky and slick as her big bro MJ ever came with. Should be well more known than it actually is.
Sprockrooster (9.5) - As a teacher this song speaks to me a lot. Janet creating awareness of education and it's importance is basically a life mantra. Loving this part the most: "Prejudice no, Ignorance no, Bigotry no, Illiteracy no". Sonically not on par with the most of the album, so I could not 10 it because of it.
Ray (10) - I’ve spent years trying to emulate this sound and finally managed last year on a remix I did for Basia. What an amazing piece of music this is. The gated vocals. The gated drums. The rap and harmonies interspersing. Also the message itself – still true. Unfortunately. There are not enough pop songs like this. Where "State Of The World" comes, to me, as preachy, this comes as striking and true. Get the point? Good. Let’s dance.
mrdonut (8) - The industrial beats and effects are really quite stark at times. Yet they only make this even more exciting and audacious.
Br0dy (9) - When your beat is so hot that it's MJ's favourite song to dance to.

Shocked Again just made the top 40, thought for many it was the ultimate Janet ballad! Guess I was wrong. As for The Knowledge, love it, but does feel it;s time for it too go now. It's a song within a song really.

She/Her
Though I completely disagree regarding Any Time, Any Place - was a BIG contender for my 11...

It was almost mine too. The pinnacle of atmospheric slow jams.

I also love New Agenda and Rope Burn. I'm happy to see them beat some of their parent albums' singles.

Do you listen to the song often? What are your other two 11 contenders
Usually when I listen to janet., but it's always been one of my all time faves.

Anyway, the contenders were actually four and This Time came third.
In alphabetical order:

Come Back To Me (I'm glad it hasn't been eliminated yet, I know y'all don't like it that much)
If
Scream
This Time
What are yours?

Come Back To Me absolutely adore it. But Someone To Call My lover took my 11. It just brings me so much joy. But I was torn between the two for awhile.

Love If and Scream too though.
