AshleyKerwin (9) - Iconic
CasperFan (9.5) - On first hearing this album all the way back in 93, I would never have picked it for a single but how wrong was I -just sexy, sensual, naughty and seductive. Great single remix too, making it more commercial.
Pop Gaz (9) - This song is just a striptease isn’t it, very very sexy, a reminder of when Janet did these songs well (looking at you Moist!). I love the empty production which only gets fuller with the “I don’t wanna stop just because..” it puts such a emphasis on that part. I don’t even mind that it’s really 2 minutes too long. The single cover was gorgeous too, I had it as a massive oversized poster on my student ac-com room throughout my first year at Uni.
tylerc904 (7.5) - Obviously rating the superior R. Kelly mix. Such a sexy jam, though it pales in comparison to the majority of the album.
WhatKindOfKylie? (9) - Perhaps her ultimate sex jam, and one that still sounds so sexy even all these years on. Perhaps only quite rivaled for me by Donna Summer's equally brilliant filthfest, Love To Love You Baby.
Sprockrooster (7.5) - Loving the sounds of rain as part of music and the jazzy feel. Giving it a little bit extra.
Ray (10) - I hate R. Kelly but the remix of this is even better than the 10/10 original. Also I want to live in the apartment from the video. And have the same neighbour.
evilsin (6) - I'm feeling the vibe, Janet, okay, I really do, still why bloat this to a 7 minute track?
DrinkMyTears (9) - Not something I can listen often but I definitely can appreciate it.
Weslicious (9) - Sultry Filth. Here for it!

.

STATE OF THE WORLD AND SON OF A GUN AREN'T BETTER THAN THIS YOU HEATHENS. This deserved a top 15 position/9+ average, to be honest.

What's next, Velvet Rope not making the top 30?

So, the second single to leave today is...

evilsin (9) - I just love the juxtoposition of the gritty rusty muddy instrumentals and Janet's vocals, especially in the aah ooh aah ooh parts.
AshleyKerwin (9) - Sometimes, her enunciation gets lost under the noise of it all.
CasperFan (8) - Another killer beat, another social message- would love this to be part of the tour which it is named after.
Pop Gaz (8) - A bit of banging us over the head with the sentiment with lyrics that are a little too on the noise, but it’s done to such a brilliant pop tune, albeit sprinkled with the industrial sound of the album, that you can’t help but forgive it.
WhatKindOfKylie? (10) - Such a shame this was the album's final of many singles, with zilch effort from the label going into it. Something as good as this deserved way more. Just as socially conscious as Rhythm Nation ,and equally as bop-tastic.
Sprockrooster (10) - This song is so sad and the juxtaposition of it being such a bop at the same time conflicts me.
Ray (8) - This is an undeniable bop, but the lyrics, to me, are too… Michael-like. He specialised in those woeful stories. And I never liked them. This one is better than most of his, but still… I see what you’re doing Janet, but it’s not really working for me. Especially as you do it better all over this album.
mrdonut (7) - Yes it certainly sounds hackneyed every now and again. But it’s definitely no “If That Were Me” and we should be thankful for that.
Br0dy (8) - Socially-conscious uptempos are always a tricky one, but this is a bop.

Current thoughts:
1. wtf
2. wtf
3. The R. Kelly remix of Any Time, Any Place is not superior to the album version.
4. Some of y'all must hate ballads because Son of a Gun, as great as it is, should not still be here over fucking Any Time, Any Place.
5. The fact that a song that's out at 37 has that high of a rating is crazy.
6. WTF!

Br0dy (10) - Feels like quintessential Janet. Light, breezy, fun with those trademark harmonies.
lalaclairi_ (10) - I've always loved Runaway; "didn't quite hit that note, that wasn't such a good time" is so iconic.
Pop Gaz (8) - The vocal layering is lovely in this track, as are the Indian influences, a song that totally invokes the vibe it was going for. Just lovely.
tylerc904 (10) - Such a carefree travel bop. Escapades more mature older sister. And breaking the fourth wall with the amazing "didn't quite hit the note that wasn't such a good time".
WhatKindOfKylie? (10) - Just gives me that instant feel good factor I need whenever I play it. She has done so many summery songs over the years, but Runaway is by no means just a carbon copy of the ones from before. So many cultural influences inside one 4 minute song is amazing too.
Sprockrooster (9) - Loving the world elements musically and geographical highlights lyrically.
Ray (8) - This is when my Janet obsession finally bloomed – Design Of A Decade turned me from a fan of Rhythm Nation 1814 into a fan of Janet in general. Obsessive period begins.
CasperFan (8.5) - Lovely, summery, chilled ,different,awesome!
AshleyKerwin (7) - A cute summer bop.
evilsin (8) - I always found this really calming and playful at the same time. The yeah-yeah-yeahs in the chorus are sublime.
Weslicious (10) - Yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah!
