Could there be an X Factor greatest hits?

With all the hits from the last 10 years im surprised theres never been talk of an Xfactor greatest hits album. With the tenth anniversary they could have past contestants showcase the shows greatest hits. Fair enough no one seems to have a long music career after the show but there are still a lot of hits. I think American Idol did one too.

If they ever did, fingers crossed they include Diana Vickers' #1 single 'Once'.
I'm so annoyed that wasn't included in the Xfactor Mash-Up video, yet they included Joe McElderry's #6 single 'Ambitions'.

Probably a licencing thing, as she wasn't on Syco / Sony? Maybe she didn't want to be on it.

'Once' was released through RCA, a Sony company. Same as Union J. I doubt it was because of that.

Even the post X Factor acts that sign to small 'indie' labels, Xenomania (Amelia Lily), Misha B (Relentless) are actually just Sony subsidiaries.

I've never understood why The X Factor never released "Greatest Moments" albums of every series? Especially in the days before you could download the performances on iTunes.

I'm surprised they never tried to cash in on the music side of the show more (until recently with the downloads I guess). That said, a collection of X Factor hits would probably be a bit 'generic-winner's-single' heavy. I think most people who would want those songs would have downloaded them at the time, and I doubt anybody would want to own Joe McElderry's version of The Climb or whatever it was Steve Brookstein released now...

I imagine it'll happen, but a few years down the line, when the show is over. I in the same way The Big Reunion album is essentially a greatest hits of late 90's/ early 00's pop this would be a greatest hits of pop right now. I really don't think it's a question of 'could there be an X Factor greatest hits', more a question of when it will happen. They have a lot to choose from so the track list would be interesting too. I'd love it if they binned off the shit 'winners singles', but that obviously wouldn't happen.

'X Factor Hits' would be an amazing theme for a week on this years show, especially since they're really emphasising the fact that it's the tenth series in the marketing already.

I think it would be good to have Disc 1 of the real hits like Bleeding Love and What Makes You Beautiful etc, and then Disc 2 of all the winners singles

I like this idea and thought similarly. I came up with a quick tracklist of what I'd like to see/can see being realistic.

Disc One:
01. Bleeding Love – Leona Lewis
02. Heart Skips A Beat – Olly Murs Feat. Rizzle Kicks
03. Everybody In Love – JLS
04. What Makes You Beautiful – One Direction
05. Bad Boys – Alexandra Burke Feat. Flo Rida
06. Wings – Little Mix
07. You’re Nobody ‘Til Somebody Loves You – James Arthur
08. Swagger Jagger – Cher Lloyd
09. Nothing’s Real But Love – Rebecca Ferguson
10. Carry You – Union J
11. Once – Diana Vickers
12. You Bring Me Joy – Amelia Lily
13. No Promises – Shayne Ward
14. Ambitions – Joe McElderry
15. Under Pressure (Ice Ice Baby) – Jedward

Disc Two:
01. Against All Odds – Steve Brookstein
02. That’s My Goal – Shayne Ward
03. A Moment Like This – Leona Lewis
04. When You Believe – Leon Jackson
05. Hallelujah – Alexandra Burke
06. The Climb – Joe McElderry
07. When We Collide – Matt Cardle
08. Cannonball – Little Mix
09. Impossible – James Arthur
10. X Factor 2013 Winner’s Single

Obviously with the inclusion of this year's winners single and the upcoming James Arthur single it'll have to be released after this year's series has finished.

They could do a bonus disc 3 with the judges disc:

1. Dannii Minogue - I Begin To Wonder
2. Cheryl Cole - Fight For This Love
3. Tulisa - Young
4. Nicole Shcerzinger - Don't Hold Your Breath
5. Take That - whatever shit song I can't think of one
6. Kelly Rowland - Down For Whatever

Maybe chuck in Sinitta or something to fill it out..!

Funnily enough, all those songs would require licencing through Universal, which put paids to the notion that Sony/Syco only look after their own on X Factor.

So this is actually happening.

Doesn't look like it includes any judges songs, but you can't really tell yet. If it doesn't I think that's a missed trick. It says 17 #1's, I really hope that's none of the winners singles.

Also, I hope they have like a TV special were all the best people are invited back to perform and be interviewed. I'd expect it to be:
Leona Lewis
One Direction
Olly Murs
JLS
Alexandra Burke
Cher Lloyd
Rebecca Ferguson

POSSIBLY:
Misha B
Union J
Diana Vickers
Amelia Lily
Jedward
Shayne Ward
Jahmene Douglas

If it was two 1 hour specials they could fit all of them in I think

I would assume that the show before the release of the album will have an 'X Factor Alumni' theme, with each of the contestants performing a song by an X Factor contestant.

One Direction, Leona, Alexandra, JLS, Olly, James, Union J, Cher, Little Mix all doing a performance together? The reappearance of Simon? Maybe even a Cheryl performance to recreate the most iconic moment in X Factor history... in my opinion.

From the track list it seems they're going for the biggest hit by each artist. When Hallelujah is included over Bad Boys, you have to weep for humanity.
