COVID-19

If anyone gets a bit overwhelmed with bad news on Covid then there's this great twitter account I follow, that posts positive things that are happening that may get lost with everything else.

Thank you so much for this. I'm sticking with my Twitter break but I'll check this periodically. It's been a horrible start to the year and we need to remind ourselves the hope is still there.

The single-shot Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) could be approved in the UK by early next month as well according to the Torygraph. 30 million doses on order. This can also be stored at fridge temperature and with that and just requiring one dose would be a game-changer. But it depends on how effective it turns out to be in the phase 3 trials, of course.

This is only going to get worse over the course of this month as well. I have no choice but to go into my school every day, and it is still so busy everywhere I drive past. And, yes, parents are still desperate to send their kids in. The amount of arguments I’ve had to have with them today....

Parents are selfish. I say this because a couple of my friends have ruined their lives and had children. They want their kids in school because they don’t want them at home being all annoying.

My friends that have kids are anti lockdown because of the school thing. And the silly arguments they spurt out at me with made up statistics about how difficult it is to spread in schools etc.

Chris Whitty is doing a national ad campaign tonight because people aren't listening and staying at home in Lockdown 3. Not sure putting him on TV will do anything at all but. You need somebody people will listen to aka not from the government.

Breaking news on CNN is a new mutant strain has been found in the US. White House Task Force are about to do a briefing I think.

Hasn’t it been there for about four years now?

I'm not a parent but I'm sure it doesn't take much thought to imagine how hard it is to work full time from home to the required standard whilst also trying to supervise young children with their schoolwork all day. Many parents are just as stressed as everyone else trying to keep their jobs and look after their kids at the same time so I doubt the only reason is their children being 'annoying'.

I don't hate children at all. Sometimes they're cute. Sometimes they're annoying. But I am incredibly confused by all the people who have knowingly decided a pandemic involving a disease we don't know the long-term effects of is the perfect time to get pregnant.

And that's my barely related thought for the day.

I mean you're totally right, but parents should absolutely be aiming their anger at their employers for being unaccommodating, not schools/teachers/government for school closures. In fact, no—their anger should be directed at our poisonous capitalist society that creates increasingly depersonalized chains of managers putting pressure on workers to produce more and more in less and less time with no leeway for personal issues.
