  1. As always, never confuse "the majority" with "the people shouting the loudest".

I am double Pfizer vaxxed and as of today I was diagnosed with COVID. I will admit, I went to Vegas for a fun weekend but for me fun is sitting by the pool and going to a casino and I was masked about 85% of the time. Not perfect but I never left seated without a mask on. Symptoms started Monday with a loss of appetite and deep nausea, morphed into essentially a head cold. I assumed it was just a summer cold but I thought you know what I’ll feel better about this if I get tested. Rapid test, positive. I’m in quarantine until Wednesday.

Feeling extremely unlucky, gross, and sad.

And now I’m a statistic in the Chicago news.

I’m gonna break our own rule here, “:(“

Im shocked too, and to make it worse I went to the immediate clinic for the test coughing and waiting for over an hour while all these lolla kids were there to just get their negative test for entry.

  5. This is madness when you stop and think about it. Delta is no joke! Hope you feel better soon.

It is no joke this is so easy to catch.
  7. Hope you feel better! So you were away Friday-Sunday and felt symptoms as early as Monday? That’s very quick compared to the normal strain. It’s all very worrying but I am sure you will be alright…

Yeah I believe I picked it up as soon as I got there Friday and fell ill with nausea and a light cough Monday. Chalked it up to the desert heat and air quality.

  9. That’s the same kind of timescale as me - went out for drinks and a concert on the Friday, was ill by the Monday but didn’t test positive until Thursday.

    Hope you’re doing okay!

  12. I’m going to a wedding in 2 weeks. Bit anxious as it’ll be the first big social thing ive done since…New Year’s Eve 2019 (my godddd!!)

They said everyone has to take a LFT prior to attending and people can keep their masks on if they want to which is a great gesture.

Just worried about the easy transmission of the Delta variant. Especially as the week following I’ll be hopefully visiting my family in Birmingham for the first time since December 2019. I miss them a lot so hopefully I don’t get pinger or whatever.

  14. Great.

Though maybe transmissibility will decrease over time. In other words, the Delta data are from a post-vaccine world (less social distancing and mask wearing), whereas data for the ancestral strain data are, for the most part, from pre-vaccine/during lockdowns.

  15. Well I'm spiraling now, but this is a good "duh" moment.

I've got a wedding in a few weeks too. I am anxious about social events with 100s of strangers at the the best of times so my anxiety is off the charts at the moment. No one has even mentioned covid and how it will affect the event, so I assume its business as usual (2019 edition)

I didn't think I had that much covid anxiety until I returned to the office 2 weeks ago. Once I'm there, I'm fine. But I can't stand the tube journey, particularly going home. People just don't seem to give a fuck any more.

  18. Covid anxiety is so real!! The demographic of the people going to the wedding all seem pretty sensible and likeminded so hopefully they won’t mind if I keep my mask on or don’t want to hug them. I really just don’t want to take any goddamn risks.

Likewise with the return to the office thing. Once I’m in the building, I’m completely fine and feel safe. It’s the commute that stresses me out. I also hate how hand sanitizer stations have all disappeared from places all of a sudden. I was hoping that would be something that would remain well after the pandemic.
