Darren Hayes - Homosexual

He/him
Just back at the hotel after an amazing evening in Newcastle. He actually sung the chorus of Power of Goodbye during his monologue which was a highlight .... And we also got the live debut (for this tour) of Hold Me which was a treat!

The M&G and Q&A was fantastic. The stage manager read out my name and said where's Leon P-T and Darren pointed me out and said that handsome fella looking very very smart over there! I was thrilled. He then went on to say that I had a beautiful voice and that he enjoyed watching me dance and wished he could dance like me (he follows me on insta and is very encouraging) - I really wasnt expecting that so was totally blown away. He made eye contact a few times during the show but especially during Crash & Burn, I can only imagine because he's familiar with my sobriety/recovery story and I was in bits.

New bit of information : he's signed a book deal for an autobiography and owns the film rights should anyone want to pursue that so that's fantastic news!

He said that the Australian sequence of the debut Savage Garden record was pressed on vinyl so he's working hard on getting the American version pressed too as it has Promises on it.

I may have forgotten some things but I think that's the meat of it. I highly recommend you go to the show if you can - these are undeniable songs that need to be heard live.

INCREDIBLE!

Darren just offered me a lap dance!
Were you on the front row? I saw you!

Saw him in Manchester last night and I echo what everyone's said before. Great show. My third time seeing him and I'm never disappointed. I'm not a massive Savage Garden fan and would have preferred more solo stuff but the show is so much fun and Darren pulls you in for the rider that I can't complain at all. I love what he does with the arrangements, there are always neat little surprises, even if it's just a tiny speck of a different song buried in the mix. He seemed to be having a ball as well.

I was absolutely GUTTED that the Homosexual fans had sold out. It was the one bit of merch I was definitely going to buy!

Homosexual is an album that has certainly grown on me. Still would like less falsetto (which you actually do get in the live versions) but on the whole it's a great album.

Wearing a multi colour storm trooper shirt? Yes that was me.

Was excellent fun. It was like having a performance in my living room being so close.

The meet and greet / sound check was ace and that's where I got offered my lap dance.

Darren was very interactive with everyone all night which was fun.

Again would have loved a few more solo songs but hopefully if he is back for good some of the savage hits could be merge into a couple of medleys to allow a bit more solo stuff.

Got to see him last night, first time seeing him live. What a voice, I’ve been lucky to see so many artists but I think he’s up there as one of the best voices / most like the record I’ve ever heard. I grew up with Savage Garden as a child so to hear it live was just a dream come true and breathtaking.

Surprisingly I didn’t mind insatiable being remix but would have been nice to maybe do the real version for an encore as well. Also think the song should have been in the party section. The party section was a little flat with the crowd but that’s always expected with new songs and a crowd that’s here for hits.

Darren also is full of a cold so said he was struggling to get through the set but honestly you couldn’t tell, there was maybe only one song where he sang is in a different key / didn’t sound as good as the other songs which was Truly Madly Deeply.

But overall, amazing night. Oh and the sound in the Venue was so poor. Where I was you could have / people were talking like they were in a bar as it was so quiet. Quietest gig i think ive ever been to!

Merch update, no fans!

Ι'm obsessed with his current aesthetic / style being Target Preteens 8-14 - basically what Cheetah Girls are wearing in the Fuego video. Youthful king!

I saw him in London and he was BRILLIANT! Never seen him live before - and what a performance he put on. He looked like he was living his best life and looked so comfortable in his own skin. Loved the theatrical elements too.

Very jealous to hear he's now performing "Hold Me". I also wish he had performed "Crush", "On The Verge..." and "I Miss You" but overall, I loved the setlist (I mean, he did "Two Beds" and "Crash and Burn" so I was very happy). A good showcase of the old and new. I agree with comments saying perhaps he could have broken up the "Homosexual" tracks a bit.... But what a pleasure to finally see him live!

Last night’s performance at GLive, Guildford was truly one of the best I have witnessed. Darren is a true showman, and even though he had a cold, he put one hell of a show on! The way he moved around the stage, interacted with the audience and told some truly heartfelt genuine stories, it was beautiful to see how comfortable and genuine he feels in his skin after so many years feeling ashamed.

Song after song, it was a literal bop pop fest and it felt like being transported back to the 2000’s. The nostalgia was unbelievable and his vocals were on point.

Shame he didn’t perform too many songs from Tension & the Spark, even ‘Dublin Sky’ was cut, but I was overall impressed and loved every minute!
