Darren Hayes

Did anyone attend the NYE concert? How as it?

Got my copy of Delicate Volume 3 today (and no, I can't copy it...). Love the demos of California and especially Creeping Up On You. Not sure about the new version of I MIss You, but that song always missed a little something (despite great lyrics).

What other songs are on it? It just gets sent automatically to all fan club members, right? I will be eagerly waiting by my letterbox.

As for New Years. I didn't go but a friend who was there posted a video of him singing 'Affirmation'. Can't find the link for it now but it's on Youtube somewhere - it's absolutely hilarious. He stops the song midway through to rant about how he doesn't agree with the lyrics.

Yes. qdes - It's the annual EP for fan club members.

It's four tracks. The three I mentioned and Step Into The Light (Shave N Sugar Full Remix).

my fiance and I went to the NYE gig and it was very very good. Great for a fan anyway- it was tailored very much to hardcore fans that knew his discography. Was lovely to hear album tracks from his earlier albums (like it or not, you can still be free) and a cool acoustic b sides (ocean and california) section. When we bought tickets we were given a link to vote for a song which he hadn't performed before to be performed on the night... it was all a bit strange as he sung every song which was on the list anyway! Hooray!

There were some pretty neat mash ups that weren't done on the Secret tour and there was some mariah-esque remix of 'So Beautiful' .... I think that's what it was anyway! hee hee

For me, this was the best show he's done ... perfectly tailored for fans that really love his music.

One major misstep was that the show finished at 11.43pm leaving us all standing there doing nothing until midnight... He did come out and bring in the new year with us BUT it was mighty ridiculous to have not timed the show properly so that the momentum kept going until new years. Not only that, but the last song before he did go off at 11.43 was Siren's Call which as we know is not a big club banger which would have been a more appropriate way to end the show : On a high happy note - this was a new years gig after all! this was very very strange and left a bad taste in my mouth as we would have expected a more uplifting, jubilant ending to a NYE gig.

Other than the lull at the end of the show, it was amazing and made it worth the trip from Sydney to see him!

I didn't find anything wrong with how the show went or the timing of Darren going off and then returning. He came out again later in the evening and spent ages having photographs and signing stuff for those who stayed.

I loved the performance, thought his voice sounded incredible. There was an acoustic section to the show which was absolutely breathtaking.

All in all amazing.

So 'Bloodstained Heart' is getting a release in UK and is up for pre-order on iTunes. The EP has a new song called 'Ending Before I Begin'.

Edit: And based on the iTunes preview, it's a massive b-side.

The NYE show was fantastic. I was lucky enough to snag a few VIP passes so got to spend some time with Darren upstairs along with his band and lots of their friends and family.

He put on a great show for the fans.

Regarding the timing. Tracy his assistant informed me on the night there was meant to be another track but something went wrong so it didn't happen.

Still, 20+ tracks, great mix of tracks.

Looking forward to hopefully interviewing him very soon.

Am really looking forward to the Bloodtsained Heart UK release especially for the B-Side because as mentioned the iTunes preview makes it sound brilliant.

Any word on the next Australian Single as Black Out The Sun was confirmed as UK only release.

Where does Darren go from here, given SCaBS' (Australia-excepted) total lack of commercial success? Please don't say a Savage Garden reunion tour...

Being content with being a bit of an underground artist I guess. I imagine he'll continue releasing albums and tour smaller venues.

Darren just performed on BBC Radio 2 on Terry Wogan's show and sang Bloodstained Heart and an amazing performance of Madonna's Like A Prayer.

I just love Darren's rendition of Madonna songs!!

So in what is not totally unexpected news, Ending Before I Begin is amazing. Didn't listen to the remixes (never do), so I can't comment on those.

Monsieur Adi remix we have heard before and I think it's pretty great, and I'm not the kind of guy who enjoys remixes all that much.

Ending Before I Begin is of course fantastic. Love love love it.

I love Ending Before I Begin. Frustratingly though I can't listen to I Need You as upon digging out my old record player, it appears to be broken. So annoying to know that I own a new song of his physically but have no means of being able to hear it. And he won't make an mp3 of it so I'm pretty screwed.

So after having completely ignored it last year, PJ has now suddenly decided that the album is good.
Don't even get me started.

I want to hug him after reading that interview. He really deserves a lot more credit then he gets.

So there's no way we can hear the second b-side I need you unless we buy the Vinyl (which I can't play anyway).
Sad sad sad.

I love Ending Before I Begin.
