David Guetta - Nothing But The Beat

Different, but somehow it still sounds like generic fodder. Probably quite fun in a club, but beyond that I'm not interested in the slightest.

Guetta has a few good songs, but most of his work is rubbish. I don't know why but I'm getting more Calvin Harris vibes from that snippet than Guetta vibes. That can only be a good thing. Hopefully he collaborates with some interesting people and not go in for more generic radio hits with irritating voices (Taio Cruz, Ludacris, Nicky Minaj, Rihanna, Usher, Chris Brown, Will.i.am...)

I like how Avicii picked Audra Mae for his album. Soul singers do make excellent guest vocalists on dance songs. Guetta should rope in some really diverse voices from different genres and bring them together on one record with his music. That would be simple for him to do considering his celebrity status... Off the top of my head - Alex Turner, Beth Ditto, Cee-Lo Green, Gwen Stefani, Chester Bennington, Lykke Li, Rob Thomas.. this would be an actual challenge for him.

Sia should definitely be there on the album. Both Titanium and She Wolf were top notch!

I'm here for those as guests. I want artists whose work has nothing to do with electronic / house to be guests in his album but also big names.

Actually, that is a good point. Even though Sia only ended up on Nothing But the Beat through a series of lucky circumstances, she was the crash-bang that David needed to finally "get it". The re-release was indicative of this- we had Tegan and Sara, Sia, NERVO- singers that wouldn't have gotten a look-in previously; wouldn't have even been on a "potentials" list.

I agree that soul singers would be good; RnB/Urban artists in general are a fantastic pick. Night of Your Life should have been fantastic had it not been a copy/paste of Only Girl (In the World), so I'd like more J-Hud. Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Miguel, Janelle Monae and Emeli Sandé would be exceptional; all depends if their integrity would let them record it.

As for the "big guns" that will shift the numbers, I reckon Rihanna will make an appearance, Britney's a possibility- and, even, given Fashion!...Lady Gaga?

Interesting I thought it sounded pretty good until it got to the drop, where it suddenly went shit! Haha! Also agreed with whoever said they were Calvin Harris vibes.

That video is an absolute cheese fest though!

It is a song for a charity afterall, this won't be the first proper single.

I'd love to see him try and bring back a legend Pet Shop Boy & Dusty/Liza style on this album.
Get Diana Ross, Aretha or Cyndi on the phone. If they don't answer then Jamelia or the Mumba will do....

Gave Rihanna a big hit, wrote for Christina Aguilera, featured on a David Guetta single. Mikky Ekko wants to be the male Sia so bad.

Yes R&B singers would be an excellent choice as well. I wouldn't pick Beyonce though, I'd go back to Kelly Rowland.

See thats the thing. He is a DJ. He doesn't need to feature big acts to shift numbers. I really like that Avicii didn't use any big names on his album. Calvin certainly did not need any to help him push sales, but he featured people anyway. Guetta must try and pick people who are slightly low profile, and use his status as one of the most popular DJs to sell his record.
