Narrator: It wasn't.
N'oublie pas is a fucking bop though.
It totally is better than Interstellaires.
A reminder that two-thirds of Destiny’s Child released solo singles this month:
Interstellaires > Désobéissance > Monkey Me, and that’s du thé.
I’m not angry, Mylène, just disappointed.
I'm 'bout to go Tonya Harding on the whole world's knee remains one of my favorite lines of 2018.
I am relieved to report I can probably salvage an average length album from Icarus Falls.
I'm probably going to wait till last-minute until I send my stuff in because my charts are pretty much identical to last months'. I really need to broaden my horizon a bit.
@ohnostalgia can we bring Lip & Hip back to the top of the chart in honor of Hyuna and the anniversary of its release?
Get Up Girl is iconic, though. I don’t know why I find life so sexy.
I liked the album, but I did prefer the new Zazie album to this. Speed is better than any of Mylene’s songs from this album anyways.
CURIOUS | HAYLEY KIYOKO
Released Jan 12, 2018
Without a doubt the best track released in January. It's an absolute tragedy that she lost to both Troye and Tinashe on the charts. And FYI I will go postal if this doesn't do well on our Best of 2018 charts.
MY MY MY! / THE GOOD SIDE | TROYE SIVAN
Released Jan 10 / Jan 19, 2018
Once upon a time I wasn't so done with Troye. I enjoy both of these tracks, maybe because they were released before the messy prolonged album campaign fatigue set in. Still, Blue Neighbourhood > Bloom.
THE MIDDLE | MAREN MORRIS & ZEDD
Released Jan 23, 2018
Grammy Nominated The Middle catapulted Maren Morris into country crossover fame months before Bebe Rexha tried to claim the title (one that was earned way back in the 90s, anyways).
FOR YOU | RITA ORA & LIAM PAYNE
Released Jan 5, 2018
Released in a more innocent, pre-Girls world, I stanned this without any hesitation. Those background synths are divine.
HOT PINK | LET'S EAT GRANDMA
Released Jan 31, 2018
They are so weird and I LOVE IT.
ALL THE STARS (FEAT. SZA) | KENDRICK LAMAR
Released: January 4, 2018
We'll get to my absolute adoration of the Black Panther soundtrack next month, but let's ease into it with the Certified Bop that is All The Stars. I absolutely loved seeing SZA growing her mainstream presence and I am always here for Kendrick.
INFERNO | ASHMUTE
Released: Jan 12, 2018
A perfect introduction to the underground DIY Korean Electronica scene.
LOWER | AMBER & LUNA
Released Jan 5, 2018
Okay, it's a pretty basic dance track. But it features two of my f(x) faves, so I stan. Amber and Luna dancing together in the video is a highlight.
CEASE & DESIST | ALICE GLASS
Released Jan 23, 2018
Alice Glass fights back against her abuser and ex-bandmate (he sued her after she made her accusations public).

What were your favourite January releases?
The Troye singles both appeared on my January ballot, and My My My! in particular is one of my favourite songs of the year.
CupcakKe’s Crayons was another highlight. I still haven’t really become a stan but Crayons stood out to me as an LGBT anthem that also happened to be a great bop musically.
But one of the best things about the month was finally getting another En Vogue single - with a music video, for the first time in 18 years. Rocket was a grower for me but it really clicked with me over the course of the year and the understated groove and lush harmonies were a great harbinger of the album to come. (Electric Café isn’t perfect but it remains one of my favourite albums of the year.)
Yes & YES.
All this time I thought Bebe Rexha was like a Dua Lipa wannabe???
Rap Legends only.
That haven't already been mentioned:
Mabel & Not3s - Fine Line
M.O, Lotto Boyzz & Mr Eazi - Bad Vibe
Magdalena Bay - Waking Up
(Call Me) Loop - Give 'n' Take
DIMA - Boots
DYLYN - Wolf
Example - The Answer
Kylie Minogue - Dancing (kii)
With December being a bit sparse these albums from earlier months can have the focus.
Please take a listen to some tranquil pop:
Did you forget something?
This pop album is so good:
c'mon give it a go, they're better than Lany.
