Desperate Housewives

Anyone else watch the premiere Sunday, I did, well I downloaded via one of those brilliant torrent sites.

A bit of a slow opener, kinda like Nip/Tuck. The Xiao Mei/Gabrielle storyline gave a few good laughs though. With Bree's I couldn't help but feel Deja Vu , with Orson's neighboor at the party. Same kinda thing happened last season with that pharamist guy I swear.

Re: Desperate Housewives

I find it hard to care about this show anymore. I really do. And I wish somebody would give Eva Longoria a better written character because she has such great comic timing.

Re: Desperate Housewives

I laughed so hard when Susan spilt her smoothie all over the woman in a coma. Mainly at the idea of Teri Hatcher ever drinking a smoothie.

Re: Desperate Housewives

I'm liking this season more than last. I wasn't a fan of the whole Matthew-saga from last year, although the Shawn Pyfrom character development was a highlight, even if he turned out to be absolutely mental. Kyle McLachlan's character, although somewhat insane, works very well (so far, anyways) with Bree. They make a really good couple - if he refrains from beating her up (which, really - it could go either way), then I may almost forgive him for murdering his wife.

I'm officially off Edie as well, who I'm now convinced is the biggest whore on television at this very moment.

Re: Desperate Housewives

The show has reached a new peak this season.

Did anyone see episode 6 this week? Gabrielle pushing Carlos out the window has to be one of the funniest moments in the show ever!

I just wish they'd kill off Susan's new man. His accent drives me CRAZY!

I think Lynette and Tom need to get back together, as much as she can be a moany-ou-know-what. But they are like the original couple, who never split (bar this year).

Am I the only one in shock over Mike?

its gotten worse as the day has gone on. Watching it really did nothing for me but the more I think about it the worse I feel bad for Susan. I really have hated her this season but I did not want Susan to end up alone. I really agreed with how Teri reacted to her character. I was too use to the show and assume it would have been Tom's girlfriend.

Its starting to get to me that this show is ending. Its been the only other show besides Buffy that I've watched since pilot to ending.

Re: Desperate Housewives

Anybody still watching this?
I'm keeping up with the US at the moment, and thusfar I'm loving season 5..
I actually think all seasons, apart from season 2, have been quite good, and even that year had it's moments..

I recently started rewatching season 1 with a friend (who never saw it before) and it's great (but weird) to see how much the women have changed over the last 10 years!

Re: Desperate Housewives

I think Katherine is a brilliant addition to the show, she's kept it fresh.

At first I was against the 'going into the future' thing, but it's worked really well.

And how creepy is Dave?! The smile is enough to give me nightmares!

Re: Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives has become one of those TV shows I watch now when I get bored. It's sad but for me it's never recaputred the magic of the first season, which given it is so long since I saw it I may rewatch.

The idea of the five year jump resparked my interest in the show and made me really anticipate Season 5 so muh (I'm keeping up with US pace) and I just feel like the show has become pedestrian again.

You just know at the end of this season the 'big bad' Dave will be apprehended in the final two episodes, life in Wisteria Lane will continue on as ever until the next psychotic luny shows up. I don't know where else they can really go in the show, to be honest.

Re: Desperate Housewives

You have a point, and if this season once again ends with Mike and Susan getting back together I might vomit, but I still very much enjoy it..
There are loads of comedies where nothing changes for years (Friends for example wasn't exactly about character development), the thing I still like about DH is how every now and then something happens that has some real impact on storylines, whether it's a supporting character getting shot, a house getting burned down, someone giving birth or a new neighbour moving in (I like how Katherine actually stayed after her mystery was solved).. there is still a lot happening, and (for me) there's still plenty of moments that are very funny or emotional... rewatching season 1, the mystery is hardly the most important thing.. it is what gets you hooked because you want to know what's next, but in the end this is more a comedy than a soap-opera, and even without a great mystery there's plenty of enjoyable moments in the show..

Just popping in and out to express my love for 'Desperate Housewives'!

But as I haven't seen anything of season 5 yet and as I absolutely HATE spoilers, it'll be a while till I check this thread again...

This forum needs spoilertags!!
We can just not talk about season 5, or put in big SPOILER bits though!

Argh... I couldn't contain myself and I checked the thread again (But seriously... This is the last time, y'all!)

And I sooo agree that we need spoiler tags! Especially for the 'Movies' board!
I once saw a message board where they had a brilliant thing for it. It first said 'SPOILER' and then the text was invisible until you hovered your mouse over it. Brilliant.

Re: Desperate Housewives

For those watching at US pace, without giving anything away...

Anyone disappointed by the big thing they've been advertising as happening? I was expecting the way it happened to be better!

I only watched 'that scene' on youtube yet, but yes.. it wasn't as shocking as I expected it to be.. I'm sure the next episode will be a tearjerker though..
Also, a bit weird they ended it like a cliffhanger while the promo already promised us it would really happen.. The next promo made me think episode 19 was already the final, but I just listened badly.. I'm sure more intense stuff will happen with Dave still being a free man..

Re: Desperate Housewives

It's just a shame they confirmed it was happening months ago so didn't come as a shock at all. Just seems like going with a bit of a whimper as opposed to a bang. And they expect us to wait a month for the next episode? Bastards!
